Pulisic explains why Milan ‘enchanted’ him and why he has respect for Pioli

By Oliver Fisher -

Christian Pulisic has explained why he feels so settled at AC Milan, while he also revealed some details about his relationship with head coach Stefano Pioli.

Pulisic is a very strong candidate for signing of the season in Serie A given that he has scored 15 goals across all competitions, nailing down a start spot with Milan after a difficult last couple of seasons at Chelsea.

Given that the Rossoneri paid around €20m for Pulisic as per virtually every source an excellent investment for Milan, who had long since needed an upgrade on the right wing. Now, he could potentially be worth double what was paid.

Pulisic gave an interview to Il Giornale in which he spoke about a number of different topics from his switch to playing on the right wing to the team’s difficulties in big games this season.

What is it like being a Milan player and living in Italy?

“I really like Italy, I like Milan. I live just outside the city, in the greenery and tranquility, I love the cuisine, the climate a little less these days: it’s more like London than Milan, it’s always raining!

“The world of Milan enchanted me with the enthusiasm I felt at the stadium and in the city. I rarely go to the clubs in the centre: if they see me, they get out of the car and stop me to ask for photos and autographs.”

Pioli played a big part in your decision to join…

“During that conversation Pioli told me exactly what he would have wanted from me, in which role he would have used me. And, unlike some of his colleagues, he never failed in that commitment throughout the season.”

  1. Where is the sentence where he expresses his respect for Pioli? He just says Pioli played him in a role in which he told him he would play him before he signed, that’s it.

In fact, in the same interview, in a separate article you posted here, he in fact took a HUGE dump on Pioli, his strategy and game plan. – “I have no certainties on the matter. I can think that we faced these matches without the right organisation, we didn’t always defend in the right way, perhaps the strategy wasn’t perfect, we became vulnerable, leaving the defensive phase exposed due to the desire to always attack.”

So that doesn’t scream respect to me, more like the opposite.

    1. Pulisic does not talk like this. He is the most non answer giving player you will ever see. The translators must have taken what he said and ran with it. I am sure Pulisic knows Pioli is the one manger that gave him starts even when he wasn’t at his best.

      1. He actually does talk like that and it was reported word for word by ever media outlet out there because it was directed at Pioli and his strategy in big matches.

It was also published here in an article discussing a different part of the same interview. In fact, this article was later posted to try to change the narrative.

    2. You are just fishing and you most likely got a statement that suits your narrative. No player will condemn his coach in the manner you just narrated. Especially a player who
Is having his best season till date and definitely not Pulisic.

      1. Read the previous article, it is posted here, just a few hours before this one. As for changing the narrative, it is this article that is desperately trying to do that.
