AC Milan want to renew Christian Pulisic’s deal, but they are not the only one with an interest in the American star.
There has been plenty said about Pulisic and what the future holds in 2026. Even this summer, there have been plenty of suggestions. From Milan’s perspective, they are clear: they want to renew his contract, which expires in 2028 (after their option to renew).

However, interest is high in the winger, especially from America. Indeed, New York City FC have come forward with an attempt to sign him due to the World Cup hype taking the States by storm.
Pulisic in the sights
It has been reported that Pulisic was somewhat open to the move to America. However, it seems unlikely – if not impossible – that it will occur. As The Athletic writes, the Rossoneri have made it clear that the winger is ‘not for sale’.
Of course, The Athletic are a top-tier source anyway, but their links to the New York Times would only further confirm these suggestions.
It is worth noting that the message has effectively been given to other teams, too. The report continues, stating that New York City FC are not the only MLS team that would chase the American star.
However, the message today is clear. Pulisic is not for sale and bids will not be listened to this summer.
What about his contract? It expires in just a year…
There is a club option to extend to 2028. But still, that would mean that without a further extension/renewal, this is the summer in which the club would receive max value for a transfer. So if Pulisic isn’t interested in extending beyond 2028, we’d have to sell him in 2027 at a discounted price or risk losing him for nothing in 2028. So, not selling him this summer will only succeed if we’re also able to get him to sign a contract keeping him at the club beyond 2028, so let’s see what happens here.
I know about that option but I don’t know whether that’s unilateral or Pulisic has a saying in that
as well meaning he has to explicitly agree to an
one-year extension?
Milan can extend it without a comment by Pulisic.
On his YouTube channel, lawyer Felice Raimondo analyzed AC Milan’s new corporate structure and listed its differences from that of Liverpool , which many believe to be Cardinale’s inspiration. These are his words.

The athletic is reliable but also….everyone has a price
would like to know your source when stating that Pulisic was “open to the idea.” Pulisic wants to play in Europe for a club that will compete for the ECL and league championships. He wants to leave a legacy as an American footballer playing in Europe. If he decides to leave Milan it will only be for a club playing ECL football.
