Sky: Pulisic not travelling with squad for Torino game – the plan if he recovers

Christian Pulisic will not start for AC Milan against Torino on Monday night as he continues to battle a fever, a report claims.

As announced by Massimiliano Allegri in his press conference, Pulisic suffered from a fever last night, leaving his presence in the squad for tomorrow’s match away to Torino in doubt.

Pulisic remains at home

As reported by Sky (via MilanNews), the American missed training at Milanello today due to his illness and will not travel this afternoon with the rest of the Rossoneri squad, who will travel to the Piedmontese capital by bus.

If he is well enough tomorrow, Pulisic will travel to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino alone and possibly join Allegri’s group. Pulisic, however, will certainly not start – at most he could recover and be on the bench.

Allegri was hoping that Pulisic would be fit enough to start alongside Rafael Leao for only the second time in Serie A. Given that he is not, it will be another battle between Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christopher Nkunku to partner the Portuguese.

Pulisic returned to Massimiliano Allegri’s squad for the derby against Inter on November 23rd, three weeks after suffering a thigh problem while playing for his national team. He was then forced to miss the last league match against Lazio due to muscle fatigue.

  1. Hopefully he recovers quickly.

Milan have a good stretch of games over the next 5-6 where they will favorites in all of them and can pile up points.

Time to figure out how to stop dropping points against the smaller teams. Milan should have 44-46 points going to Como in mid-January.

  2. If Nkunku starts and has another Houdini performance, it might lead to his exit in the winter. I don’t know that Redbird will allow it but it’s basically a wasted spot that could have gone to a proper 9. Unfortunately, Roma don’t really need someone like Nkunku either, but maybe they could convince them of a strait swap with Dovbyk? Pretty sure the values are not even close to the same for each player so maybe they’d agree in hopes of selling Nkunku later? Idk, but when we need to use RLC in mid and Puli is unavailable, it really is a hindrance to have to rely on Nkunku. He doesn’t look to have the pace he showed in Germany. Maybe he needs to drop deeper to receive the ball and start plays off closer to midfield? I think he struggles in tight spaces that just weren’t there in Germany and England.

    1. What for? Why would we sign another bad player in Dovbyk? Even that guy from Parma is twice the player Dovbyk is. I think Nkuku is better than both of them to be honest, even though he is a different type of player.

      1. well what ever, someone better than him, just an example. I see Lewandowski is rumored as part of the exact deal I’m talking about. He’s older but I wouldn’t expect much more in a winter window.

  3. I don’t know why Max insists on Leao as a 9. We clearly don’t have anyone who can play that role. Why not keep Leao running in from the left with balls into the box where we can try Nkunku and RLC with late runs in.
