Christian Pulisic put the summer controversy behind him and got back to doing what he does best for the United States: producing goals.
In case you missed the drama of recent months, Pulisic was heavily criticised by some sections of the USMNT fan base for not participating in the Gold Cup, but he answered the call over the current break and picked up where he left off. Mauricio Pochettino also fuelled the fire with his comments.

The United States won 2-0 against Japan last night, thanks to goals from Zendejas and Balogun. Pulisic – who netted in Milan’s recent win over Lecce – set up the second goal with a lovely slipped through pass.
His entire performance that caught the eye, as ESPN also highlighted in their post-match ratings, giving him a 9 out of 10. They assess his performance as follows: “Roamed around, created his own opportunities with recoveries, dropped deep and then clinched the well-earned assist for Balogun’s goal.”

Guess what role and formation he played in.
Yeah and guess whether the supporters were …. Well …. Supporting?
Were the USA fans banned from the stadium as well?
Yea but no one had anti-American slogans either… No reason to ban anyone.
Anti-management is not anti-Milan. It’s actually the complete opposite.
Well they weren’t shaking down the beer vendors or running ticket scalping schemes either Bart.
Neither were Curva Sud. Those were Inter fans. Proven.
Sure Ted. If you believe that you are the only one who does.
Is Allegri going to play with three attackers like the usmnt did? Yes, it was three in the back but setup to attack.
LW in a 3-4-3? Irrelevant, since Allegri is going to play with a 5 man midfield with 3 central midfielders. Two of 37M man Nkunku, best player of last two seasons Pulisic, or 32M man Gimenez will be on the bench. If we miraculously use 3-4-3, it will mean 35M man Jashari (when he recovers), top Italian talent Ricci, RLC and Fofana on the bench (Rabiot and Modric starting). Meanwhile, Gimenez is our only striker, we have sh.t for depth at fullback/wingback, with the starters there being of questionable quality, and we have questionable quality at CB. Another poorly constructed squad from Furlani and co.
It wasn’t really a left wing it was a left attacking mid position which allowed him to link the mid with the attack better. Which actually supports our stance on what Milan should do. Puli and Nkunku as the attacking mids which maximizes their abilities and Leao up top. That front 3 sounds very dangerous. If Gimenez needs to play, you can sub out any of those 3 but it would most likely be Nkunku and then Leao and Puli play behind Gimenez. But Pulisic or Nkunku could come off depending on who needs rest and if Leao needs rest, you just put Gimenez in and leave everything else. It just makes sense. If we had a proper right back, I’d say the other easy back up solution is Salad to replace an attacking mid. Again, lots of possibilities up front, the problem is the depth and our defense. Really would have liked it if Theo and the management could have patched things up but eh what can ya do?
Exactly but then they need to revert to a four man backline because if Saele is considered a W/AM alternative to either Puli or Nkunku, we cannot risk him in WB position.
Exactly. It was a 3-4-2-1. The ‘wingers’ had freedom to move from the center of the field to the sidelines. A very offensive setup. The two real mifielders played as a double pivot for the most part protecting the back line but able to push up a bit at times, but never close to the box. I don’t see this fitting Allegri’s style.
Pulisic is good at linking the midfield w the attack, and also sprinting 50 meters and being there for the finish. He has an answer for every question, and I don’t see how Allegri would sit him on the bench whatever the formation. but that’s just my opinion.
