AC Milan are back in Serie A action on Friday night as they welcome Venezia to San Siro for their first home game.
Milan began the new campaign in ideal fashion, winning 2-1 away from home against Torino in Ruben Amorim’s first competitive game in charge on Sunday night. However, being the early game in round two, there is little time to enjoy the debut victory.

Pulisic ready to go
La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) recall that Christian Pulisic enjoyed Milan’s win and the breakout performance of Alphadjo Cisse from the bench. The Italian did well in the left-sided attacking midfielder role, the position Amorim had said he wanted to play Pulisic.
The American did not feature in the match in Turin, having only rejoined group training last week. The injury sustained during his final World Cup match with the United States inevitably impacted his summer: he stayed behind to work hard at Milanello while his team-mates went on tour.
However, Pulisic made such rapid progress that he convinced the Portuguese coach to include him in the squad for the trip to Turin, despite having played zero minutes in pre-season friendlies. His first run-out could therefore come this Friday evening against Venezia.
It is a team he has faced twice in his career, scoring on both occasions. While one forward is itching to play, another is bidding farewell to Milan: yesterday, Christopher Nkunku’s move to Leipzig – on loan with an option to buy – was officially confirmed.
Based on the first game, I’d say Puli on the left makes sense. There were several times watching Cisse, when I thought Puli would have done something much better. I think he will combine well with Ramos. I don’t think he will thrive next to Chuk on the right – Chuk is all left and always wants to come inside. Saalemaekers makes more sense on the RWB and might combine fine with Puli. Either way, adding Puli to the mix should help the attack get more fluid. And I guarantee he makes that back post run that Cisse didn’t make. Cisse can also learn a lot from Puli on where to show up and how to make the off ball runs. Puli learned that from his time with Lampard.
of course puli is better than cisse bro, but remember he is injury prone and remember why his performance drop a lot toward the end of last season after couple series of great performance, amorim must really check if he 1000 % fit no injury even it is just a mosquito bite or we see captain america who got no power in italy.
This comment makes no sense given how RLC played.
Why wouldn’t it keep Cisse and play pulisic on the right where we’ve seen him thrive in the past. Thus, replacing the weakest player at the front rather than a young and promising one.
All this mess about pulisic being injury prone is completely overbling. Our captain and keeper was made of glass for several years.
Pulisic could end up very well being the most important sub in all of Syria this year.
Not just because of his quality but also because of his flexibility. It’s going to be interesting to watch it play out, especially given it’s a contract year for him.
