Further updates have arrived from Milanello regarding the conditions of four injured players, in view of Sunday’s game against Roma.
Massimiliano Allegri has already battled many injuries in the early part of the season, all while having limited depth to begin with, and it appears that he might have lost another man ahead of the big game at San Siro in four days. Sky have broken things down case by case.

Fikayo Tomori: The defender is at risk for Milan-Roma, after a collision against Atalanta that he played on following. Tests on his swollen knee revealed no injuries but he remains in pain from a bruise, which could seriously jeopardise his chances of being fit for Sunday. The situation will be evaluated on a daily basis.
Christian Pulisic: The forward is feeling better, and there’s a slim chance he could make the bench vs. Roma. Allegri had hoped to have him back in the squad starting next Monday, ahead of Parma. The next few training sessions will be crucial to determine whether he can push that forward even more.

Rafael Leao: The Portuguese underwent an MRI scan that ruled out any hip injuries. He too is undergoing ongoing management, treatment and evaluation. It will be necessary to wait to determine whether he will be available on Sunday.
Santiago Gimenez: Also underwent a scan on his ankle, which didn’t show any worrying problems. He will be evaluated daily also.
Adrien Rabiot: Rabiot is trying to accelerate his recovery, anticipate his return, and be back to face Parma in 10 days. It will be in the last game before the break, so he won’t be rushed.

tomori pavlovich and gabbia is our bvest defensive trio.WE NEED pulsic back – if he can come on last 15 minutes it could be great for us . i want to see nkunku start vs roma – he looked alright vs atalanta but he can do well like leao on 1 on 1s
Vs Roma I’d go with Ruben Loftus Cheek and Nkunku up top, regardless of injuries, unless Pulisic is miraculously ready to play amd start the game.
Agree
Agreed.
I totally disagree. Start Nkunku and Gimenez up top, with RLC on the bench. It’s the only way we have any depth for this game, because RLC does not have 90 minutes in his legs and neither does Nkunku. Leao is nursing an injury.
This way you can bring in Leao for Nkunku and RLC for one of the three starting midfielders (Modric, Ricci and Fofana). I would say Modric, because the dude needs a break. Gimenez will have to suck it up and play 90 minutes. So each department has at least someone on the bench.
In your scenario, RLC and Nkunku would both have to come off around 60 minutes for Leao and Gimenez, and then all three midfielders including 40 year old Modric are playing another full 90 after having gone full 90 on Tuesday, with Leao on the pitch who will do nothing to help defensively. No way.
So Leao is nursing an injury but Gimenez isn’t?
He might not be able to play on Sunday, so how are you staring him?
Who says that Nkunku and RLC don’t have 90 minutes?
Nkunku played 75 minutes for Frances during the international break, and if RLC doesn’t have 90 minutes in him, he wouldn’t have been called up for his national team. He was out for about 10 days for a minor injury, not 10 months.
Until Rabiot and Jashari come back, there is no situation where Modric isn’t on the pitch unless the game is already over. He is in better shape than players half his age, and there are 5 full days between the Atalanta game and the Roma game. Load manage him during training, give him a day off, not during games.
Yes, all of this is injury dependent, which I forgot to say, but assuming they’re all fit to make the match squad, to put it that way, I go with what I wrote previously.
I like it. Why not? Give RLC and Nkunku a chance.
It literally can’t be worse than the miserable attack we saw with Leao and Santi up top.
It’s distressing to see how much Rabiot’s and Puli’s absences are felt. Entirely different team without them.
True. Players like Salad and Santi look serviceable even good with Puli and Rabiot around them.
But when the better players are gone and we suddenly depend on Salad and Santi (and even Modric) to carry the load, the whole team looks poor, barely Serie A quality.
Better scan Leao for his mood..if its bad then bench him!!
Use a mood ring 😆
Watch Modric end up playing more minutes than anyone.
100% agree on this
But “he’s too old” said the experts on this site’s comment section a couple of months ago… 😀 😀 😀 😀
