Luka Modric made his AC Milan debut in front of an almost full San Siro against Bari, and it didn’t take long for him to light up the show.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport reveal, a good ten minutes after the full-time whistle in a match that was handled with considerable ease, Modric was there, by the side of the pitch, busy explaining some moves to Noah Okafor who had come on at the end.

While most of the others were already in the shower, he was giving advice to a team-mate, explaining his point of view and miming with his arms and hands what Noah could/should have done. The Croatian was probably referring to one of the final moves of the match, when he was halted on the run.
Attention to detail
These are the details that reveal the depth of a man who, in the words of the pre-match announcer, ‘started as a kid wearing the Rossoneri shirt and then became a legend’. In a stadium without the Curva Sud, the only name that raised the decibels in the old-fashioned way was his.
Massimiliano Allegri, with Marco Landucci on the bench given his suspension, gave the former Real Madrid man the last 28 minutes, including injury time. He played him in front of the defence, with Ardon Jashari as the box-to-box player.

The stadium erupted in applause and delight at every touch. Luka and Ardon immediately launched an attacking move, earning a corner. Then he brought San Siro to its feet: a dribble past Sibilli, and then a shot into the goalkeeper’s arms.
Then, in the 90th minute, he broke into the box on the right, running along the byline: a low cross into the six-yard box that was not met. The crowd was angry with his teammates for not understanding where the ball might end up. It’s better for his teammates to follow his advice.
Luka, Jashari and Ricci could dominate midfields this season – leave the stocking fillers on the bench.
Think we missed a trick sending Comotto to Spezia though; he’d learn far more here with Luka..
Don’t forget RLC. The guy is so good and provides something the others don’t: a physical drive forward. For the time being I think he will be favoured before Ricci and Jashari
I just worry about his ability to stay fit. He probably will be favoured over Jashari to begin with, at least until he gets injured, which he will. Ricci’s place won’t be affected by him. Fofana will end up as his back-up.
Modric has never had an issue with fitness. Yes, he’s 40, but the last two seasons with Madrid he played over 90 matches if I recall correctly. He hasn’t had an injury in like 4 or 5 years.
We’d be crazy not to keep Leao as the 9 and Pulisic a withdrawn striker. Both play best when all over the field.
We also have way too much midfield talent to play 3 up front. A rotation of Ricci, Jashari, RLC, Modric and Fofana deserves as much playing time as possible.
A class above everyone else is what we’ve been missing, he made it look so easy. Effortless. It’s how we won with players like Maldini and Ibra. These are the type of players other players look up to.

He really belongs to a whole different class, definitely not a common player, but a legend, that’s plain and clear, even being already a veteran.
Quality makes the difference in football as shown in the modric’s display, Milan are suffering from having poor midfielders over the years,this is the first time seeing an improvement in midfield getting Ricci, jashari & modric ,we will enjoy the season
