QS: Conte wants a job in Italy with Milan among three plausible options

One of the topics dominating the Italian media at the moment is the future of Antonio Conte and whether a return to Serie A might be on the cards ahead of next season.

This morning’s Quotidiano Sportivo (via PianetaMilan) takes stock of Conte’s situation, given that he has been frequently linked with a number of different Italian clubs since he left Spurs.

They confirm that he wants to return to coaching in Italy, to be closer to his family (who live in Turin), and there are three plausible options for him in view of 2024-25.

Milan and Roma seem to be the most likely destinations for the Salento-born coach as per the paper. The Rossoneri most likely replace Stefano Pioli at the end of the season, while the Giallorossi consider Daniele De Rossi an interim choice.

A little further behind are Napoli, to whom Conte has already said ‘no’ twice to taking over this season, first from Rudi Garcia and then from the interim Walter Mazzarri. Aurelio De Laurentiis has other ideas in mind, such as Jose Mourinho and possibly even Pioli.

The option of a return to Juventus remains in the background too, an idea that, perhaps, would be perfect for him. However, with the excellent season that Massimiliano Allegri is having, a separation cannot be expected at the moment.

As we revealed earlier in the month, Conte is not considered a concrete option for Milan because of various factors and there are a couple of other names ahead of him.
