QS: Milan and Spurs among several clubs keen on impressive Bologna defender

AC Milan were linked with a move for Riccardo Calafiori during the summer transfer window before he moved to Bologna, and a report claims that their interest remains.

Calafiori joined Bologna from Swiss side Basel last summer and signed a contract until June 2027. He has impressed under the guidance of Thiago Motta, playing more as a left-sided centre-back than a left-back, which was his primary position before.

The 21-year-old Italian has started 15 out of the 18 games that he has appeared in, and Quotidiano Sportivo report that he is attracting the interest of a numbers of clubs within Serie A as well as one abroad.

It is Spurs who are actively pursuing Calafiori as per the source, but Inter, Juventus, Milan, and Napoli have expressed their interest in securing the Italy U21 international’s services.

Tottenham have of course already dipped into the Serie A market for a defender in January, completing the signing of Radu Dragusin of Genoa who Milan were also linked with.

What adds another layer of intrigue to the story is that the Rossoneri are also believed to have Bologna’s head coach Motta and striker Joshua Zirkzee on their wish list ahead of a summer where there could be big changes.
