CM: A first in 400 days – Conceicao questions arise as Milan win four on the bounce

There are certainly issues with this AC Milan team, however, there are some moments where the Rossoneri look almost inevitable, and questions are being formed.

This season has been substandard for everyone, however since Sergio Conceicao’s arrival things have slowly started to change a little. No longer are Milan on the wrong side of results more often than not, but rather Conceicao’s side are winning games.

In fact, as Calciomercato.com write, the Rossoneri won their fourth successive game on Friday, a feat which has not been done since the club won seven in a row under Stefano Pioli, 400 days ago. A figure that shows a lot, but above all, why there has been struggles throughout this season.

Throughout the year, the Diavolo have not been consistent, whether that regards team selection or results, and this has deeply affected their season. However, they have recently begun to put together a trend of falling behind and turning the table – which few other clubs in Europe have been better at.

Against a rotated Bologna side, the same occurred. The Diavolo were initially at a disadvantage, but won by three goals to one when the full time whistle blew.

So, questions need to be asked of the future. This recent turnaround is due to Sergio Conceicao ultimately, and the new identity which he has given to the Rossoneri, bringing character, desire and fight.

Of course, everything points in the direction of Milan losing the Portuguese this summer, a decision which they are almost entirely responsible for. However, there is a lingering feeling that it could be the wrong move.

Perhaps, Conceicao deserves a chance to manage a full season then, and only then, should he be re-evaluated.

  1. as much as i have criticised him at this point he should stay
privatise that he wins the cup and the rest of the serie a games of course

    1. I have said this from the beginning, the coach had been dealt a very difficult hand, and it comes at no coincidence that the upwards trend had started when he actually had time to train the team. That being said it’s difficult to judge him as it stands and i think he deserves more time to prove himself. If we change coach it needs to be immediate as they need to be in charge of the preseason.
