Rabiot admits to frustration after Verona win and responds to Allegri talk: “Not even a question”

Adrien Rabiot has admitted AC Milan could have played better in their win over Hellas Verona, even if three points are what matters.

There is rarely such a thing as an easy three points in Serie A, but Milan could have made things easier for themselves than they did against Verona, who are joint-bottom of the table and heading back to Serie B.

It was far from a vintage performance but there was at least some much-needed resilience after consecutive defeats. The only goal of the game came from Rabiot a few minutes before half-time, with the Frenchman finishing after Rafael Leao’s nice assist.

Rabiot reacts to Verona win

Rabiot spoke to DAZN immediately after the full-time whistle to give his thoughts on what was a win that Milan really had to work hard for, and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.

What kind of game was it? Does it help fix the psychology?

“It’s not a question of being healed. At this point in the season, it’s important to win and get the points to achieve our goal. But we made too many mistakes. We could have done better on the counterattacks, and then we tire ourselves out unnecessarily.

“We need to work on this and be more relaxed. We had plenty of counter-attacks where we could have done better. The win is fine, but we could have done better in terms of our play.”

Is it difficult to overcome the feeling of being out of the Scudetto race?

“No, we’ve put it behind us. We’re players, we know football well. That objective is gone, now we have to focus on the Champions League. Difficulties can arise and we can feel a bit tired.

“We have to stay united like we did tonight. Even though we didn’t play well, the spirit was there and it brought us the three points. The mentality is good, we have to improve our game.”

Are you Allegri’s Milan? Do you want him to be here next year too?

“Yes, it’s not even a question. I don’t know what the manager will do; only he can say. As I said, the manager has given us so much strength and confidence this season.

“To achieve our goal, we have to do it for ourselves and for the fans, but also for the manager and the staff, all those who work for us every day. As for the rest, I don’t know who will leave at the end of the season. But until the goal is reached, we’ll all have to be there.”
