Tuttosport: Rabiot still irreplaceable to Milan – the renewal Cardinale plans to offer

Adrien Rabiot’s importance to AC Milan hasn’t changed one bit, and the ownership plan to show this in gestures.

In a summer of profound changes for the Rossoneri, as well as conflicting rumours about the French midfielder’s future, Rabiot remains a pillar of the team. Ruben Amorim confirmed this in his pre-match press conference on the eve of the Venezia match.

“Adrien is a crucial player for our project. We wanted to keep him, and if the opportunity arises, his contract should be renewed. He knows it,” he said. In the meantime, the manager has seen a new role for him in his 3-4-2-1 system, one he is already excelling in.

Renewal in the pipeline

Rabiot currently has a contract until 2028, with an option to extend it to 2029. Given his central role in the project, Tuttosport (via MilanNews) say the management’s goal – as Amorim revealed – is to renew his contract as soon as possible.

Initial discussions have already taken place between the club and his mother-agent, Veronique. Above all, it has been made clear that Adrien is truly an irreplaceable player for Milan, both now and in the future, especially when a midfielder like Luka Modric is in his final season.

At the end of the summer transfer window, Gerry Cardinale and Véronique Rabiot will meet face-to-face to begin finalising the key points of the new contract proposal. The goal is to extend the agreement at least until 2030, when Adrien will be 35.

They will make him one of the highest-paid players in the squad too: the idea is to offer a €5m net salary, which would put him third among Milan’s top earners, Gonçalo Ramos and his compatriot Mike Maignan.
