AC Milan were far from their best on Sunday at the Stadio Bentegodi, but they emerged with the win they so badly needed.
The winner came from Adrien Rabiot in the 41st minute, with the Frenchman slotting home after Rafael Leao’s through ball. There wasn’t much quality aside from that though, with Milan leaving the result open until the final kick.

The end result was an eighth 1-0 victory of the season and the 13th by one goal, in typical ‘corto muso’ Max Allegri fashion. The victory pads that gap to fifth place to eight points, and now a Champions League place certainly feels a bit more secure.
What will worry Milan fans is that the team once again failed to generate much in an attacking sense. There was a disallowed goal though for Matteo Gabbia, and the 3-5-2 did see to increase the solidity at the other end.
