Radio Kiss Kiss: Napoli considering Milan coach Pioli as Mazzarri replacement

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has decided that AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli could be an ideal replacement for Walter Mazzarri if the Partenopei’s poor form continues.

According to a report from Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli (via Milan News), De Laurentiis is starting to think about who will lead his team for the 2024/25 season.

Napoli began the campaign with Rudi Garcia in charge after Luciano Spalletti had walked away, but the poor results led to the Frenchman being sacked and replaced by Walter Mazzarri.

Results have not improved in Campania and it would not be a surprise if Mazzarri failed to see out the season as well.

Regardless, De Laurentiis wants a longer-term option to take charge ahead of next season and he thinks that, given Pioli’s position at Milan is not totally secure, the Italian may be on the market.

There are some prominent names being linked with the job, such as the unattached Antonio Conte and Brighton manager Robert De Zerbi.

It is expected that De Zerbi would like to stay in the Premier League, so if Conte is not interested in leading Napoli, Pioli could find himself getting a phone call from De Laurentiis with a job offer.
