AC Milan had another reason to smile last night, with another of their players scoring on the international stage. This time, it was Goncalo Ramos.
It’s been a fruitful international stage so far for Milan. Luka Modric has scored, Diego Moreira played well against Italy, Mike Maignan was the Man of the Match for France and Zachary Athekame got two assists for Switzerland. As things go, that’s a pretty good record and we’ve not even looked at the Italy Under-21s.

With plenty of others still to play, the hope was that these performances would continue and last night for Portugal, it did.
Ramos gives Portugal the win
In the first game under new coach Jorge Jesus, A Selecao won 2-1 and the decisive goal was scored by Ramos. A lovely chip from outside the area, Ramos delivered his first goal since the one against Venezia last month.
He could’ve made it two goals in quick succession too, and even if it seemed like a golden opportunity, it was a tough one to convert. In addition to that, he had another ruled out for being offside after pressing the goalkeeper into a mistake.
Nevertheless, it’s a solid opening goal and it’s a meaningful one. Hopefully he takes that into the rest of the games during the break and back to Italy!
