Goncalo Ramos will play in front of the AC Milan fans at San Siro for the first time tonight, hoping to make a good impression.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) write that tonight Milan will make a push for the top spot. Granted, it is only the second game of the season, but a win tonight against Venezia at San Siro could allow Ruben Amorim savour being at the summit at least for one night.

The new nine
The Rossoneri’s new centre-forward, Gonçalo Ramos, is set to make his San Siro debut for Milan like his compatriot Ruben Amorim. “It will be special; I want to enjoy the moment,” said the former Sporting and Manchester United manager in his press conference.
For Ramos, the icing on the cake – beyond the three points – would be scoring his first Serie A goal, perhaps right in front of the Curva Sud, which is sure to be roaring with intensity from the very first minute.
San Siro will be a sell-out (including the away section) and will honour Franco Baresi during an evening of tribute and remembrance that extends well beyond the match itself.
Milan’s glorious past is being celebrated in a present that Gerry Cardinale hopes to make worthy of that legacy, following two disappointing seasons. With the signing of Ramos, the club secured the most expensive transfer of the entire summer in Serie A, paying over €70m to PSG.
Gonçalo arrived carrying the haul of trophies he won during his three years in Paris, though he was never the leading man there. At Amorim’s Milan, however, he will finally take centre stage, as the No.9, the starter, the team’s main goalscorer.
Yet, accolades must be earned on the pitch, and Ramos finally has the chance to do just that. Even so, the Portuguese forward’s contribution cannot be reduced to mere statistics. Gonçalo is the first to initiate the high press demanded by Amorim and the last to back down when fighting for loose balls.
He demonstrated this in Turin as well, even though the goal eluded him. Adrien Rabiot snatched it away just yards from the net, intercepting a perfect delivery from Samuel Chukwueze. He will make up for it, and there will be other chances.
Lets relax here. One game in the books. Still 37 plus Europa League and Copa Italia games to go. I dont think we need to expect more than 15 goals from him this season, as long as he can be a Giroud type of helping with play in the field and open spaces and assist.
Granted, Venezia is a perfect opponent to get goals against. Hope he gets a goal or two.

Don’t care in the slightest if he scores, so long as he helps us get a result.
The most important thing for him for him is to impose his presence in the opponent 18 yard box and create space for his team mates. Giroud was the last striker who gave us that vicarious thrill.
