Ranieri questions whether Milan can be more involved in ‘competitive’ championship

Every year, AC Milan are expected to compete for the Scudetto, and in recent years, this expectation has become a feeling of hope, rather than anything else. Whilst this season has not started in the best way, they are not out of the race yet.

A club of Milan’s size should be fighting for the title every year, and the fans demand this. However, since the Scudetto success in 2021/22, there has been no success in their attempts to reclaim the trophy.

With the Stefano Pioli era ending, fans hoped that it would be the catalyst for change, and the Rossoneri would hopefully compete once again for the title. However, it has not gone this way so far.

Instead, the Diavolo are close to sacking their manager again. Frustrations are rising, and faith is falling, but Claudio Ranieri believes that Milan are not entirely out of the title race just yet, and his words in Gazzetta dello Sport have been relayed by Milan News.

“I remain of the idea that Inter are favourites for the title. The Nerazzurri are reigning champions and have two alternatives per role. However, I expect a more competitive championship than in recent years. Napoli and Juventus will fight until the end. On paper, in terms of values, there would also be Milan, but unlike their rivals they have not yet found a precise balance.”
