Following the win against Torino, AC Milan are gearing up to take on Fiorentina away from home on Saturday evening. For Stefano Pioli’s men, it will be important to continue their good form with a win.
The Rossoneri are currently sitting in eighth place with 35 points after 24 games. However, they are just four points behind Roma in fifth (see standings here), which goes to show how well they have done to recover from a miserable first six months.
However, the Champions League race remains tough. In order to stay within reach of a top-four finish, they will need to grab as many points as they can. Down below, we have rated the difficulty of Milan’s five upcoming games in all competitions.
Fiorentina (7/10): La Viola didn’t exactly have the best of starts with Vincenzo Montella – former Milan manager – as their boss. However, since he was replaced by Beppe Iachini, they have looked a lot better.
On their home turf, you can never underestimate Fiorentina, which is why Milan will have to stay focused for this encounter. It should be a tough game for the Rossoneri, but a win is certainly within reach.
Genoa (5/10): Just like the last time these two sides met, Genoa are struggling at the bottom of the table. In fact, they might even go down at the end of the season, currently sitting in the relegation zone.
In games like these, you can’t always follow the football odds when predicting the outcome, as the Rossoblu will be fighting for survival. In any case, Milan should be able to win with relative ease, especially since it’s at home.
Juventus (10/10): After the 1-1 draw in the first leg at San Siro, Milan will have to get on the scoresheet to knock out the Bianconeri. At the Allianz Stadium, that is never an easy thing to do.
The display in the first leg, though, was promising and leaves some hope for the fans. However, Samu Castillejo, Theo Hernandez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be suspended for the game – a very tough clash indeed.
Lecce (5/10): The newcomers are fighting for survival in the relegation battle, looking to extend their stay in the top flight. However, they shouldn’t be getting any help from Milan, who will work hard to claim all the points they can get.
The Rossoneri sometimes have issues with the smaller teams, meaning we can’t always assume that they will win. However, anything else than three points from this game would be a disaster.
Roma (8/10): This clash could certainly be an important one in the Champions League race. With the Giallorossi currently ahead in the standings, Milan will be looking to close the gap and potentially leapfrog them with a win in this fixture.
However, it won’t be easy. Sure, Paulo Fonseca’s side have had their ups and downs this season, but they remain one of the better sides this season. The reverse leg ended 2-1 in favour of the Romans.
