Player Ratings: Arsenal 2-1 AC Milan – Tatarusanu and Rebic holding Rossoneri back

Milan lost their friendly clash against Arsenal both after 90 minutes and in the penalty shootout. The Rossoneri thus collected zero points and down below are the player ratings.

Due to the fact that it was a friendly, there were several substitutions and thus the ratings should be taken with a pinch of salt. Also, of course, because some of the players need to regain fitness.

Starting XI

Tatarusanu (4.5): Rooted to the spot on Odegaard’s free-kick (which was nice, to be fair) and he made a huge mistake to gift Arsenal the second crucial goal. He saved a penalty but wasn’t good overall.

Kalulu (5.5): Made a silly error to give Arsenal the free-kick that Odegaard converted and we didn’t really see that much of him.

Gabbia (5.5): Improved as the game went on, especially with his passing, but struggled a bit to handle the pace of the Arsenal attackers.

Tomori (6.5 – MOTM): Probably Milan’s best player out there today as he was assertive in the duels and also brought hope with a lovely header.

Pobega (5): Playing at left-back just isn’t his thing, and that isn’t surprising either.

Vranckx (5.5): He had a very bright start with several nice turns but faded as the game went on (and also made a couple of mistakes).

Tonali (6): He was a bit too invisible for most of the game but assisted Tomori for the goal. Also improved as the game went on.

Saelemaekers (5): He had a good chance in the first half which he squandered and he wasn’t really involved at all.

Adli (6): A very good first half from him with some nice turns and smart passes, but the second half wasn’t as successful.

Rebic (4.5): A shocking performance from him it must be said. Almost always offside and he couldn’t get a pass right this afternoon.

Origi (5.5): He looked energised but ultimately missed a great chance to score a goal in the first half. It was a free header and he should have done better. Earlier in the first half, he hit the crossbar with a great strike.

Substitutes

Thiaw (5.5): Decent but nothing spectacular, playing as a right-back.

Diaz (5): Some good moves here and there but little end-product. It was also an extremely lazy penalty from him.

Lazetic (6): He did well in several duels and should have had more than one free-kick. A positive display from him.

Bennacer (6.5): The best Milan man along with Tomori, it’s clear just how important he is for Milan.

El Hilali (N/A): We didn’t see enough of him.

Krunic (N/A): We didn’t see enough of him (but a very poor penalty).

Bozzolan (N/A): A promising but too short display.
