Raveyre comments on ‘deserved’ Youth League progress and ‘fantastic’ Maignan

By Oliver Fisher -

Noah Raveyre was among the heroes for AC Milan’s Primavera side as they qualified for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Youth League for the second consecutive year.

It was an intense match against the Portuguese side Braga, and in the end it went all the way to a penalty shootout with Kevin Zeroli scoring the winning spot kick after a couple of saves from Raveyre.

Milan missed a penalty in the 12th minute through Scotti but he then redeemed himself as he assisted the opening goal in the 24th minute with an excellent dribble past his man to then set up Diego Sia.

Midway through the second half the away side got themselves level when Furtado’s feed allowed Rodrigues to finish, but then five minutes later Zeroli converted a Davide Bartesaghi cross with his heel to make it 2-1.

Furtado’s goal after four added minutes out of five brought Braga back to 2-2 and took the game to a penalty shootout, in which Raveyre saved from Braga’s Kelvin and Rodrigues, allowing Zeroli to score the spot kick that earned a 4-2 win on penalties.

The goalkeeper spoke to Milan TV after the game to reflect on what was a dramatic game with the perfect ending, and his comments were relayed by MilanNews.

What are your emotions?

“I’m happy for the team because we have a fantastic group. I’m very happy to be here with my team-mates. The team deserved to qualify because we played a very good match, we put our heart into showing that we are Milan and we are strong. I am happy for everyone’s work, I alone am nothing without them.”

How has your first season at the club been?

“It’s the first year I’ve been here, I wanted to learn Italian straight away because it’s important. I like this country, the language and the team. I wanted to show everyone that I came here to be a great goalkeeper and I am very happy.”

What is it like working with Maignan?

“Mike is a fantastic goalkeeper, I’m happy to be able to train with him. I really like the way he is in goal, he’s French too…”
