This summer, Mike Maignan has offered very little to the AC Milan project. He hasn’t spoken much of the club, nor has he reacted to the changes.
As a captain, you need someone who steadies the ship. Look at the likes of the late, great Franco Baresi and then Paolo Maldini. Players you could trust, players that stayed, no matter what happened on or off the field.

Then, look at Maignan. In recent days, he removed all mentions of the club on his social media page and will now return just a week before the start of the season.
Maignan – the club’s captain – will be one of the final players in the world to return from the World Cup. It’s a questionable situation and rightly or wrongly, the goalkeeper is being criticised for this.
Maignan criticism
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Telelombardia director Fabio Ravezzani looked at the situation and only had negatives on his mind, as MilanNews relays.
“I wonder if Mike Maignan, in particular, isn’t ashamed of this way of behaving, because there’s a difference between Maignan and Rabiot.
“Maignan owes a lot to Milan, and Milan launched him onto the international stage, gave him faith when he was still a relatively unknown goalkeeper, brought him into the national team, paid him adequately, and renewed a very expensive contract that expires in 2031.
“Not only that, but Maignan was also made captain of Milan, a symbol of Milan. Here’s the captain of Milan who disappears, who comes back whenever the hell he wants, who removes any reference to Milan from his social media.
“He’s an unworthy captain, and that must be said – unworthy because he should have a minimum of respect for the fans who loved him so much.”

So many journalists and editors are saying the exact same thing but you mantain your stance and you still feel like this is something that we should be making fun of and crack jokes about. “Nothing to see (t)here” while the house is slowly burning, that kind of thing. I mean,

Meanwhile I haven’t seen one Spanish journalist do the same. So it has to be some mental virus in Italy. Something really bad, dropping IQs by 50 or more.

They are already pretty much convinced, the silent majority, it’s you that is delusional now. Celebrate your “ingenuity”, “Beautiful mind”.
Maignan has never been a captain material. The only reason why he is wearing the armband because Theo, Leao and Tomori were also unworthy captains after Calabria left. Milan is always late coming out or the locker room, be that to start the game or after halftime. Also, he never speaks to the media after losses but they send Gabbia out there.
Gabbia is the only true captain. If he is on the pitch he should wear the armband. He might not he a great player but he has everything else to be a captain.
Maignan should have been sold in 2023, but people were lying to themselves that he is the best GKer in the world because of 1 good season.
Gabbia is a great player actually, as well as the only one who is truly worthy of the AC Milan armband/captaincy, the only one!
Your opinions on player quality are wild… I like Gabbia but he’s not starting for any of the top 5 clubs in the league. Him featuring so consistently is more a by product of how poor/inconsistent his fellow cb’s have been. He’s a smart player with physical and technical limitations…

Maignan was never treated as world-class goalkeeper. But agree with not attending funeral if he is still in Europe.
He wasn’t.
If he’s tired of Milan, no qualms. His agent should inform the club. There’ll always be another great goalie after him. Never hear any fan say that they missed Donnarumma.
Maignan probably chose to extend his holiday by 16 hours for EACH OF THE SIX GOALS HE LET IN AGAINST ENGLAND WHEN HE WAS ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING.
