AC Milan are in the market for a new striker and Lois Openda of RC Lens is on their list, according to a report.
Calciomercato.com report that Openda scored a hat-trick yesterday in a 4-0 win over Clermont Foot yesterday thus rising to 12 goals in the league for the season so far, his most memorable game since scoring against PSG on New Year’s Day.
Some time ago Thierry Henry praised Lens’ season, speaking of an ‘infectious atmosphere’ in the dressing room where the coach Haise continues to trust young talent and play modern football. Openda had been on the coach’s radar for at least three years while he was at Vitesse and Club Brugge, and he persuaded Lens to pay €10m for him last summer.
Among the striker’s admirers is Ricky Massara, Paolo Maldini’s right hand man to whom he has already spoken about Openda, and he is being followed by Milan. In France they are convinced that if Milan want to make an attempt, at least €20m will be needed.
