Rafael Leao has been surrounded by talk of the best in the world in recent weeks, but the Feyenoord game proved that the AC Milan star is far from that.
Since Sergio Conceicao arrived, there has been regular talk about Leao’s potential with his compatriot aiming to bring the forward to the top level of European football, and doing so consistently. However, this has not been done so far.
The Portuguese has instead been very hit and miss, as he has been in recent years, and whilst the relationship between the two is ‘blossoming’ Leao is not yet producing any flowery displays.
Feyenoord, hypothetically, was the perfect time to show his level as one of the best in Europe on the brightest stage, but the winger failed. Instead, the star was below his own level, as he admitted, and his opponent has fired some shots today.
Givairo Read spoke to Ziggo Sport about the clash, and Football Italia have his words.
“He’s not that fast. He was very difficult to catch in the first few metres, but I expected that. I watched some of the footage before the game, so I knew what to expect.
“I also believe the atmosphere of the De Kuip really helped me to distract him, so I am also grateful to our fans.”

After the match I felt Rafa should be sold, I don’t understand the reason behind Rafa not been able to shoot from afar, always running with the ball into the opposition box all the time. Maignan is also becoming another problem between the sticks. Theo should be given a replacement.
Please, somebody should tell the full team to try their lucks from ourside the box when running into the box doesn’t work and also advise Leao to stop diving unnecessarily.

Yes, we should bench Leao and sell him. Forget how he won us the supercopa a month ago. Aftar all we have Felix now. I do not know if our results are worse than some of the oppinions on this site. Theo, he is lazy, leao he is lazy, lets enjoy the work rate of Felix and Cukwarze.

We cannot accept that a player walks around the pitch for 4 matches in a row and then scores one and is hailed as the GOAT while going missing again for 4 matches.

Leao held back, probably due to the conditions as it was slippery and with his pace easy to fall and injure himself. I’ve noticed he hold back in those conditions. I’d like to see him full blast against my dude again in the second leg (not saying he isn’t fast but Leao is exceptionally quick)
