Real Madrid boss Ancelotti hoping to avoid Milan in Champions League draw

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that he would love to come up against his former side AC Milan but he would prefer to avoid them until the final.

Real Madrid swept aside Liverpool 6-2 on aggregate over two legs to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the 11th time in their past 13 seasons, and the leg work was done at Anfield where they battered Jurgen Klopp’s side 5-2.

Given their history in the competition and of course the star power they have now, many are tipping Los Blancos to win their 15th Champions League/European Cup title this season, even if Bayern Munich and Manchester City are among the teams hoping to thwart their dominant run.

Ancelotti spoke to Movistar at the end of the match against Liverpool last night which propelled Real Madrid to the final eight of the Champions League.

“We played well, we didn’t defend with low blocks. We played the game we wanted to play,” he began (via MilanNews).

“Liverpool? A gentlemen’s club. They paid homage to Amancio and it was very nice of them for their part.

“The quarter-finals? I don’t know, but I would like Milan in the final in Istanbul, not the quarterfinals.”
