AS: Real Madrid to explore early Jimenez return while waiting for Liverpool star

Real Madrid are suffering from a lack of depth at right-back and they might look to bring Alex Jimenez back to the Spanish capital, a report claims.

Diario AS are reporting that Lucas Vázquez’s performances while covering for the injured Dani Carvajal are not causing concern, but the lack of a deputy to him is. Lorenzo Aguado and Jesús Fortea are considered interesting talents but more for the future than the present.

Following Sunday’s heavy defeat to Barça, the debate over whether or not to sign a right-back in January remains. Plan A remains Trent Alexander-Arnold, with Madrid pushing to sign the Liverpool star as much as possible, though without a big fee a winter deal will be ‘impossible’.

A more short-term solution is being pondered therefore while Pedro Porro (Tottenham), Jeremie Frimpong (Bayern Leverkusen) and Denzel Dumfries (Inter) are considered too expensive. Two names stand out: Álex Jiménez and Reece James.

Jimenez is a former Real youth player that was loaned then sold to Milan permanently in the summer, and Los Blancos could try to bring him back. The 19-year-old is the most expensive youth player in Real Madrid Castilla’s history having departed for around €5m.

Guarantees on the fitness of James would be needed, while another very appealing option is Sevilla right-back Juanlu Sánchez, who isn’t currently guaranteed a starting spot with the Andalusian club. The 21-year was already viewed as an option for the summer if the Alexander-Arnold deal became complicated.

Rayo Vallecano’s Romania full-back Andrei Ratiu is a similar type of player and has been monitored, although he isn’t Madrid’s preferred option. A third LaLiga option is Jon Aramburu of Real Sociedad.

Veteran players like Inter’s Benjamin Pavard are being though about even if he would command a high fee, while Serge Aurier is a free agent but the 32-year-old has struggled for fitness in recent seasons.

  1. If so then let them pay the 12 mil they would have to pay next year or wait out til the summer and pay buyback clause at the 7/9 mil in the summer. No point for us allowing him to leave already now unless we are actually well rewarded for it.

  2. I’m sure they must be leveraging their position regarding buy back clause.

I’d give them 1 option, much and all as we need JImenez, we loan him to you for 6 months and you remove all buyback options

  3. I don’t know that Real Madrid has got any buy-back clauses, but I hope that none option for that. selling of Jimenez it could be the same or even bigger mistake as with Kerkez. I have seen that ‘bright’ Ibra came back so no more stupid mistakes.
    .
however, I also saw that the club still looking for some experience option to release in some games for Theo Hernandez. I think that Kayle Walker is not good option when you have in team the player such as Theo. But Diego Rico is very good option, strong, experienced, but still ready for some good challange and adventure.

    1. But they do have a buyback clause in the summer of 2025 at 7 or 9 mil and then one in the summer of 2026 at 12 mil so its basically out of our hands.

          1. Real will always shoot for the big name galactico.
Jimenez is simply not anywhere there yet, and likely won’t be for the next two years.

          2. I’m not saying you are wrong here but they know how to do shrewd business and keep buyback options in their deals so they at the very minimum can capitalize on eventual sales to other clubs so even if they doesn’t wanna utilize him now they can just pull the same number on a different club. Milan simply is far to big a club to accept such deals in my view.

          1. Of course it matters when Madrid can come and buy him back for a small extra fee than what we initially paid it does in fact matters as the Spaniards are reaping the benefits of our work.

  4. Some of you are really dense. Do you really think we’d have got Jimenez had we not developed Diaz? No, of course not. Even if Real Madrid take Jimenez back, they’d be open to similar deals. We could get Guler on loan, for example. We lose nothing with deals like this. Stop whining like babies. Everyone develops players for Real Madrid, Juve, Milan and Man United, going back 20 years.

      1. Develop isn’t the right word in his case, but overall they have been signing the biggest stars from the biggest clubs for 20 years. We used to be in that position so to complain about it is beyond hypocritical.

      1. Do you need a history lesson? For the past 20 years, Real Madrid have signed the best players from the best teams, from Berlusconi’s Milan, from Lippi’s Juventus and from Ferguson’s Man United and yet you’re crying over Jimenez?

    1. Oh shut up ubersulk as you are basically advocating us developing their players and expecting us to be happy about it on top of it and if you cant see the issue there then maybe just maybe you should start supporting Madrid instead.

      1. The reality is for the past 20 years, Real Madrid have signed the best players from the best teams, from Berlusconi’s Milan, from Lippi’s Juventus and from Ferguson’s Man United so why on Earth are you getting worked up about? You’re deluded.

        1. You realize repeating this garbage over and over means nothing, right? It doesn’t change the fact it’s sad and beneath us. Stop making excuses you plastic

          1. Who is making excuses? I’ve stated facts. You have given your naive opinion. Why does this need to be explained to you again? The Diaz loan helped improve relations with Real Madrid, which in turn is why they allowed Jimenez to leave. That is how things work in the real world, companies build relationships and work with each other.

        2. Of course they has been that and never said the opposite but it still doesn’t change the fact that we are basically doing the work and they reaps the rewards for a couple of millions when we could develope other players and even earn more. The Diaz case was a different matter as it happened while our finances was worse than now and even back then I was against it but at least at that point it made far more sense than it does now. Personally I don’t care about their scraps and whether we can do another “loan” or cheap buy with buyback clause as it essentially benefits them the most and that is where the problem lies.

      2. I’ve done no such thing. How do people like you function in the real world? You are beyond naive. In case you hadn’t realised, football is a business and in business, in the corporate world, some companies are larger and more powerful than others. Today, that happens to be Real Madrid. In the late 80s to the mid 2000s, that was Milan. You haven’t moved on from 2007.

        1. You make it sound like Madrid has all the best players and that there is no other players around and therefore we should just do whatever we can do to please them. Milan is not a development team, its the 2nd biggest team in the history of the sport, simple as that and no I’m not naive and I’ve been a Milan fan since 1989 and I wonder whether you had even been born back then let alone even knew of AC MIlan.

  5. Sure, Jimenez plays half a season futuro and when he finally becomes a regular first team player he goes to real bench. Real can have options whatever they want, if the player is happy currently I don’t think he will go anywhere, cause real needs also a contract with him if they want him.

Yes the buyback looks very stupid but if our plan has been to make the player happy and trust he commits himself to us then I think it can work longterm.

  6. So Jimenez is good enough for Real to consider at RB but somehow none of our coaches/management think they could perhaps try him at RB at Milan instead of Calabria or Emerson Royale?

The world has gone crazy 🤪
