Romano: Real Madrid in renewal talks with Brahim Diaz – return is a ‘huge possibility’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s hopes of signing Brahim Diaz on a permanent basis may be dealt a blow as Real Madrid are in talks to extend his contract, a report claims.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano (via MadridZone), Real Madrid are already in talks with the agent of Brahim Diaz over a new contract and there is a ‘huge possibility’ that he goes back to the Spanish capital at the end of the season when his two-year loan at Milan runs out.

Real Madrid signed Diaz from Manchester City back in January 2019 but he struggled for game time and was then first sent on a one-year loan to Milan for the 2020-21 season but that was then renewed to run until 2023, though there are disagreements about whether the deal includes an option to buy and/or buy-back.

According to Romano, the Spanish club are ‘happy with his development’ at Milan and that is why they could include him in their squad for next season after three years plying his trade on loan in Serie A, especially given Marco Asensio is out of contract.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Milan will offer €16m plus bonuses for Brahim Diaz and there is a meeting expected with Real Madrid sooner rather than later to iron out what the future of the 23-year-old will be.

  1. Nothing against Brahim but we have seen 3 years of him, he is who he is. And even though he has improved his physical balance and isn’t that easy pushed to the ground, the rest of his game is the same. He isn’t a playmaker, he doesn’t create much for others, he still runs with his head down, his passes are always too late and his shooting is poor.
I think for 16 or 20 mil, whatever Milan will have to pay to sign him, we can get better player for the same or even less money.
Grateful for his contribution over the last 3 years but it’s time for him to go
