SM: Rebic and Origi both injured for Milan clash with Sassuolo

By Euan Burns -

Both Ante Rebic and Divock Origi are injured and will not play a part in AC Milan’s clash with Sassuolo in Reggio Emilia on Tuesday, a report claims.

As has been reported by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, the two strikers who had seemed to be in line to start the game will both be staying in Milan rather than heading south to Emilia-Romagna.

The Croatian forward has suffered a back injury which means that he cannot provide a rest for Rafael Leao who was set to drop to the bench.

Origi has also been denied his first-ever start for Milan as he has got an inflammation to an existing issue that means he is not at 100%.

He will be staying at Milanello as a precaution as there is no desire to make his issue any worse and delay his contribution to the team even further given he arrived from Liverpool injured.

  1. Rafa need the rest in anticipation for the derby on the weekend. he already look fatigued in the last game against Bologna. i wouldn’t want to risk him to start against Sassuolo. Saele or CDK could slide to the left wing. but maybe Pioli should call Chaka Traore from the primavera…
and i know it’s early for the “new” MilanLab. but i hope they do their best to mitigate player injury.

  2. This is going to be the story for all clubs who are in champions league, europa league or conference league. With the World Cup in Nov/Dec causing the ridiculously packed schedule, every team is going to experience fatigue and injuries. It’s going to be a rough and strange first half of the season.

In the future the World Cup should never again be outside of the usual summertime window

  3. I’m really wondering what kind of paper players are they. Injured in less than 3 weeks?it is either
    – Milan has training load issues. Experimenting?
    – Players just want to fool around before cold weather kicks in
    -Bad training routines/plans

How I’m EPL. players playing continously and dint have this phenomenal?

  4. what expensive players did we buy who aren’t playing? the only “expensive” player we got was CDK and he’s playing great.

Origi was a free transfer. Rebic was signed years ago and had back to back seasons with double-digit goals and despite his many injuries last year, he made significant contributions to our Scudetto early in the year and then again late in the season.
