Sergio Conceicao is becoming increasingly likely to be AC Milan’s next head coach, and his current club have a meeting planned to discuss his future and the finances behind the deal he signed recently.
With Stefano Pioli’s departure all but confirmed, the future is being worked on heavily by Milan, and it comes in the form of Porto’s head coach, Sergio Conceicao. Over the weekend, the Portuguese manager’s stocks have boomed, and he is now a clear favourite to take the reigns of the club.
However, Porto have scheduled a meeting to discuss the chances, if any, of continuation together, a report suggested earlier today. Another point of interest in the meeting is his salary and how that will be dealt with reports Record (via Radio Rossonera).
The Rossoneri seemed to have lost another option when Conceicao signed a new deal with Porto at the end of April. However, here we are. The report suggests that the financials of that deal were around €28 million over four years, a substantial figure which will be clarified during today’s meeting.
Whilst the 49-year-old is widely expected to leave the club and join Milan, Andre Villas-Boas will attempt to keep the club’s manager in place. However, Conceicao holds the cards and can release himself from his contract.
I don’t think I understand this.
You mean Porto just gave him 7 millions per season contract but he will sign with us for around 4 per season?
Moreover, Porto are able to offer almost double of what we can offer?
The key difference is between the ability to pay and the willingness to pay….
Milan have the ability but not the willingness.
I know, I’m just being cynical stating the obvious.
That should be a gross salary, otherwise it makes a peculiar read indeed.
You’re probably right yes. I fell for journalistic sensationalism here.
Yes it is gross which, I might be mistaken, is 3.5 net and I read somewhere that Porto’s new management aren’t quite happy with such high salary for coach. So we have pretty good chance to sign him.
Even if it were 7M€ net, it’s not all about the money for everyone. Funny how people here think everyone chooses money over other things every single time on every single thing. I guess it just shows you have juvenile those guys still are.
