GdS: RedBird to close acquisition of Milan today – details of the new shareholders

By Oliver Fisher -

The sale of AC Milan to RedBird Capital by Elliott Management should be completed today, according to a report, as details of the shareholders continues to emerge.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), today will be a historic day for Milan as the actual transfer of shares from Elliott to RedBird will take place. There are other new members in the project too though, such as the New York Yankees and Main Street Advisors, who have LeBron James and Drake among their investors.

The Yankees are the most successful baseball team in the world and have been owned by the American family the Steinbrenners since 1973. Yesterday the words of the president of the Yankees – Randy Levine – confirmed the rumours: “We think we can increase Milan’s turnover by joining them. Our relationship with Cardinale has lasted for 25 years.”

Main Street Advisors meanwhile were established in 1997 and offer a ‘wide range of financial, strategic, business building and asset management consulting services to artists, athletes, sports and entertainment companies’.

The only Italians who have joined the RedBird vision for Milan are Riccardo Silva – the owner of Miami FC and owner of Silva International which invests in assets in multiple sectors – and his brother Saverio, co-owner of the chemical group Desa.

  1. We are still suffering from Berlusconi’s decisions!
Let’s pray that the cycle of bad-ownerships has come to an end… 🙏🏻

    1. Don’t forget, his ‘bad’ decisions made us one of the most successful teams in the history of the game. Near the end he was unable to compete financially with the Arabs and investment funds but he should be fondly remembered for what he did for us.

      1. The only reason Milan really is what it is today and why most of the fans are Milan fans. People don’t understand some basic things and just repeat what they read somewhere.

        1. @Jesus
“People don’t understand some basic things and just repeat what they read somewhere.”
          .
          Really!!??
          .
I guess when I was in the Ataturk Stadium and Olympic Stadium at Istanbul and Athens finals; You were diapered!

      2. @A P
Things you said are true and I didn’t forget! But you also know what I mean by “bad decisions!”
The Qataris wanted Milan before buying PSG. Berlusconi did not sell Milan to them at that time; But after that he sold Zlatan and Thiago Silva to them!
And after years when team was destroyed; He sold Milan at a lower price to Li Yonghong! And we are experiencing the fourth owner in 6 years! Which team have these things in these years!?
        These are the “Bad Decisions!”

  2. Let the bashing begin! Greedy Americans etc.

Did you know that current owners (Steinbrenners) bought the NY Yankees for less than 10M$ and its current value is 6Bn. Those greedy, money-hungry yankees, right?! We don’t want that to happen to our beloved Milan, right?

    1. You always just babble out random things hoping you will get it right once or twice. That 10M is almost 70M today and can you find a club that hasn’t gone up in value significantly since 1973. Let’s repeat, 1973. Hahahaha, you really are special.
