CM: The regulations surrounding Morata’s return after head injury – the details

Alvaro Morata is eyeing a return to football this weekend, but the AC Milan striker will have to follow the guidelines in place for head injuries.

When it was reported that the striker had suffered a head injury in training, it was obvious that he would not be able to play a part in the weekend’s fixture against Cagliari. Now, a week on from the clash, he is hopeful of a return, possibly as early as tomorrow.

In an interview with Marca, he stated that he felt fine, and admitted that he wanted to get back to playing as soon as possible, which could be tomorrow night when Spain take on Denmark. However, there could be a problem with that.

As Paulo Fonseca highlighted when the Spaniard was called up, there are protocols to ensure that players recover properly and this involves not playing for 10 days – a mandatory requirement. Nevertheless, as Calciomercato.com writes, he has already joined training with the team, and as he stated, he is hoping for a return against the Danes.

It remains to be seen how the Spanish National Team will deal with the injury, but the report suggests that he could feature on the bench on Friday before returning to the pitch on Monday against Switzerland.

Ultimately, he should be back for Milan’s game against Juventus, which will require his presence.
