Journalist Alessandro Jacobone has claimed that TIjjani Reijnders would never ask to leave AC Milan, due to his attachment to the club.
It is hard to ignore the growing amount of noise regarding Reijnders, in particular the interest from Manchester City. For example, Sky reported yesterday that the Premier League side are advancing in talks to land the Dutchman, who they want to replace Kevin De Bruyne.
After a season with 15 goals to his name it is predictable that Reijnders might attract some top clubs, even if he did recently renew his deal until 2030 with a pay rise as a reward for his excellent performances.
However, there is also no denying that Milan’s financial situation is worsening. A €25m loss is expected for the 2024-25 financial year, and it could be even worse the following year without any European football in 2025-26.
On his X account, Jacobone has provided some clarity on what the stance of Reijnders himself might be in the event that the interest from City is followed through.
“Let’s start from the fact that Reijnders would never abandon Milan, he chose the red and black team before falling in love with it and giving up the courtship of Barcelona, including the money,” he said.
“If he leaves, it will be only because of the club’s will. The narratives that will be evaluated will be based on what is written in this tweet.
“Tijjani chose Milan twice, renewing two months ago when the season was already compromised. His words, those of the agent to those who operate on the market, the same Milan who boasted of having been chosen despite better offers from Barca.
“The world of football is made of money, but not everyone lives only for it, and Reijnders has already demonstrated it.”
I really hope that he stays. We should build around him.
I have faith he will be with us. There will be many sales , from Kalulu tu Juve to Pobega to Bologna, departure of Thiaw and I think same will be with RLC ( who in my opinion looks like he want to go back to PL) and Tomori after 4 years . There is also many news about Theo… he is ready for new club and we talk about Juve, Man United and Real … With those sales we have almost 100m in pocket and don’t need to sell Puli, Tiji or Rafa
They left him out of the new home kit promo.
Afraid it’s a done deal with City.
😪
No he hates Milan, he said its the worst club ever, even Monza are better.
They’re gonna sell him and it’ll be a sign to all players with or not with the club. There is no loyalty here, and if there are mistakes made by manegment, they won’t fire mngmnt to save the money on the salary, they’ll sell a dedicated player that’s only crime is playing well enough to have interest from other clubs. Who wants to play for a team like that?
I love how the same characters in the media spew the same nonsense. They wanna make it all about the money.
Reijnders would never abandon Milan?
He has been a Milan player for less than 2 years, but now he would NEVER abandon Milan.
Reijnders doesn’t live for money, he has demonstrated that already?
They said the same thing about Tonali and then we found out that Tonali cares very much about money.
Why do people think that IF Reijnders go to City it is only for the money? I mean he isn’t going to Newcastle, but Manchester City. One of the best clubs in the world the last 10 years, with arguably the best coach in the world the last 15 years, who has him as the n1 choice to replace one of the best players in the world the last 10 years Kevin de Bruyne. But yeah let’s dumb it down that it is all about the money like in Tonali’s case.
You can’t sell a player that doesn’t want to be sold.
Also, about his contract renewal.
People always say, why would anyone want to come to Milan this summer when Milan is out of Europe. We’ll why would Reijnders wanna stay at Milan when Milan is out of Europe?
When he renewed his contract, even though the season was already compromised, Milan still had chances to qualify for Europe and UCL. His contract renewal agreement was probably done while Milan was still playing in the UCL. So things have changed since then.
Stay at Milan and play only in serie A or go to the best league in the world, be coached by one of the best coaches in football history and have the opportunity to win all major trophies. He is 27. He might never get an opportunity like this one.
So if he does chose to leave, he isn’t leaving only for the money.
If he goes there for just 50Mils i doubt he will earn of any trphy with either city or united
It is a better career move for Reijnders to move to a bigger club with a vision and a winning project. Milan is going nowhere fast with the current ownership.
ManCity has an ownership that spares no expense to improve the club and compete at the highest levels. Another thing is that Pep’s system football is BORING AF to watch, not sure if it would feel the same way to actually play in. But even that for a player of TJ’s caliber is better than to stay at a club where the management doesn’t know its head from its @$$…
So the milanista in me has a broken heart. But the Fan of Reijnders in me is happy for him.
One is a gambling addict the other turned down Barcelona to move here. Big difference
Tijjani Reijnders’ father on rejecting Barcelona: “I spoke with Deco directly. They were looking for a Busquets replacement. I told my son ‘you’re not that kind of player, you don’t have his characteristics’, he would have ended up straight on the bench.”
Pushing a bs Tonali bad agenda are we?
This guy is not forcing it.
Hernandez and Maignan are.
Why is it seems like that? They requested higher salary.
Even both of them fuc*ked this season. But here comes your logic. Hernandez and Mike are almost 30 so obviously they want more.. Even both are not worth half of their requested salary.
But Ac Milan is only to blame here. They could increase players salaries year by year depending on pitch performance.
But americans except one scudetto fukefd this club massively
Go to Saudi. Plenty of money there. Use their brains and stop wasting time. Younger players go there too for money, really no shame about that. Just leave.
You are right👍🏿
This looks like a Tonali situation to me…
Not at all Tonali contacted Newcastle after we won the Scudetto. Reijnders has done nothing of the sort. Also one is a gambling addict, the other isn’t. If it was up to me I wouldn’t see Sandro in our colours or our country’s colours ever again l, he’s a disgrace.
Hope your kids never have any addiction problems. Wouldn’t want a father like that around.
let’s be honest, it is an interesting offer to tiji himself and to the club also.. for the sake of tiji career and for the club financial condition.. so, it will depends on the club decission I guess.. because for tiji, it will be a great move for his development.
It won’t be Tijj who will be forcing the exit… Furlani (and the moving-van-man Scaroni) will be eager to shove him on the plane.
