Reijnders offers positive message about Milan’s victory vs. Lecce: “We had fun”

By Ben Dixon -

AC Milan dismantled Lecce on Saturday afternoon, winning 3-0 at San Siro and following the game, Tijjani Reijnders offered his thoughts about the match, and the preparation ahead of the game against AS Roma.

Stefano Pioli named four changes in his lineup for Saturday, and the ever-present Reijnders was the only midfielder to not be changed from last week’s victory against Fiorentina. The Dutchman, again, had a very positive performance and played a large part in Milan’s domination of the midfield areas.

In a game where the Rossoneri were largely expected to win, they got off the mark very quickly with two goals in 20 minutes, courtesy of Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud, and the game was effectively wrapped up just before half time, with Lecce having a man sent off.

Milan’s domination continued into the second half and the Diavolo got their third after a quick counter-attack finished by Rafael Leao.

Following the game, Reijnders spoke to Milan TV, and his words have been relayed by MilanNews.

On the match…

“A nice afternoon to play at the San Siro. We got the three points and we had fun.”

On Loftus-Cheek’s absence and Pulisic’s match…

“Ruben is important for us and we missed him. But we have a lot of players who can replace him and Pulisic did that well today.”

On the challenge with Roma…

“It will be an important match. It will be different from the other games we played against Roma. We’re in a great period of form and we have to keep this rhythm to win”.
