The terrible season that AC Milan have had will leave a hole in the accounts, pushing Tijjani Reijnders towards Manchester City.
Milan’s season isn’t even over yet, but fans can already start to worry about what will happen in the summer. The exclusion from any form of European football leads the club to review its strategic plans, especially with the accounts for 2024-25 heading for around a €25m loss.

What this means, as Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports, is that the management might take the ‘easy route’ by using the sale of a star for big money to plug that gap. Reijnders is the number one candidate.
Reijnders: Pushed towards City?
After two years of registering a profit, things have taken a turn. As mentioned, a loss is expected for the current financial year and the €80m burned by the failure to qualify for the Champions League will not help the following year.
Faced with this scenario, the leadership finds itself oriented to sacrifice one of the big names and Reijnders is the obvious candidate. The Dutch midfielder, who recently signed a contract renewal until 2030, has been closely watched by Pep Guardiola and Manchester City for some time.
An offer from the English club is expected in the next few days: the first will be around €60m with the Milan management aiming to go up to €70m plus bonuses, a figure for which the deal could be closed and things could be put back in order from a financial point of view.
What will it mean for the sporting side of things? The squad will almost certainly get weaker, given that the idea of spending a huge amount on Reijnders’ replacement seems alien. Moreover, there are 15 goals (and counting) from this season to replace.

Reijnders and Pulisic are the only two players that deserve any credit for this season. Keeping them should be the top priority unless Milan want another disaster season next season.

The sad thing is, that these jokers don’t understand that by selling Reijnders they are compromising the next season as well.
1. If you offload all the deadweight and players on loan you can yield more money than just by selling Reijnders and these are players not suitable for Milan anyway.
2. Then if you reinforce the team around the likes of Reijnders and Puli, you’ll build a stronger Milan and get better sporting results, which means higher profits and better bottom line. Stronger team fights for the Scudetto and plays in Europe every year. That means more income.
You just need to be able to see past your short d**ks to understand that the path you’re on is the opposite of what you should be doing.
Agree 100%. not only would it be 15 goals and how ever many assists (I think over all well over 30 goal contributions if you count hockey assists and all that). So we’d be asking Puli to score 30 goals next season or asking Leao to have another MVP season and score 25 goals (I think he scored like 9 or 12 this season I forget). ON TOP OF THAT, we still need a true striker that’s capable of putting in 12+ goals at a minimum. If Tiji goes, and even if Puli stays, I find it hard to expect a top 4 finish and a top 6 would also be difficult to expect. We would need to do a complete 180 in our mental state and completely change how we play as a team or lack-thereof. It seems wild to say but selling one player could completely wreck the next 3 years for Milan. Dump all the dead weight and fire at least one executive. Roma fired their CEO as soon as they could and they appointed a proven coach and now they’re within striking distance of a UCL spot, that’s how you do it. We aren’t going to fire anyone and we’re going to sell one of our top performers over the last two seasons. It’ll be interesting to see where Roma end up in the table next year compared to us.
