Reijnders lifts lid on first few months at Milan and sets target: “We believe in the Scudetto”

Tijjani Reijnders has lifted the lid on how he has settled into his new life in Italy and what it feels like to be an AC Milan player.

Reijnders spoke during an interview with SportMediaset that was aired on the eve of the match against Lazio. His comments were relayed by PianetaMilan, and he started with a general comment about how the first few months have gone.

“I feel very comfortable here, I immediately felt at home. I’m in good shape and I’m happy to be here,” he said.

It is often quite tough for players to adapt to Serie A with its reputation as being a more tactical league, and Reijnders admitted that it was not something straightforward.

“It’s not easy, it’s a different competition compared to the Dutch league. In every match I learn something new.”

You wouldn’t be able to tell that on the field though, because the Dutchman has been excellent in almost every game he has played thus far, getting an assist 11 minutes into his debut too.

“I always try to create opportunities in the game and help the team. I would also like to do it with goals, it’s the only thing I’m missing.”

In terms of objectives for the season, the former AZ Alkmaar man made it obvious what the target is for the Rossoneri, who are level on points in first place with Inter.

“We believe in the Scudetto, we have an excellent team. Even those who don’t play from the start do excellent things. There’s a lot of quality, we can do great things, maybe even win the Scudetto.”

Finally, Reijnders again answered a question regarding what his preferred role is, given the debate there has been about the position he should play.

“I like the role I have here, I’m an attacking midfielder. I like attacking, but also defending. The role I have here is what I like.”
