Arnaut Danjuma is ‘one step away’ from leaving Villarreal, but that final step requires AC Milan to make a concession regarding the formula.
According to a report from Relevo, Villarreal wanted to sell Danjuma permanently at first but the sales of Nico Jackson and Pau Torres have allowed them to soften their stance a bit in the negotiation with Milan.
However, they are asking for the full payment of the Dutchman’s salary to allow him to leave on loan, but also for the Rossoneri to pay the amortisation of his transfer fee for 2023-24 as a loan fee, which is around €5m.
There are ‘no problems’ between the clubs and talks are ongoing, but it remains to be seen if the purchase option at the end of the loan is mandatory.
Villarreal want it to be an obligation to buy because they fear that Danjuma could lose value next season, however the Rossoneri have not yet made it clear if they would accept that former.
Setién – the Villarreal head coach – does not want the former Bournemouth and Spurs player in his squad because of previous dressing room issues and the fact he does not have an ‘associative capacity’ in his eyes.
The Yellow Submarine are happy to let Danjuma go, but it is key that Milan accept that the buy-out at the end of the season is mandatory and not optional, the negotiation depends on it.
