Relevo: Milan and Leao have agreed on a new release clause – the figure

By Isak Möller -

Rafael Leao is just a signature away from renewing his contract with AC Milan. The parties have sorted the last details for the new contract and the release clause will be increased, a report claims.

The Portuguese winger is currently recovering from a minor muscle injury but he should be available for the game against Spezia on Saturday. In the meantime, Milan have been working on the contract renewal.

Yesterday, we reported that the parties were hoping to sort out the final details of the renewal today. This has now been confirmed by Antonio Vitiello, stating that the details have indeed been resolved and that only the signature is missing.

Furthermore, Relevo’s Matteo Moretto has added that the release clause will be set at €175m, rather than the current €150m. Good news for Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, who have wanted to increase the clause for quite some time.

  1. So it turned out to be completely different story than it was written in times when agreements couldn’t be found.

  2. The whole release clause is just annoying, if we have to sell let’s sell, he isn’t Messi or Mbape. If we get btw 80-120 mill we should be cashing out.

    1. Why is the release clause annoying?
It wasn’t reduced but it was increased and you are still complaining.

Can this Milan team catch a fly or make attempt to catch a fly without Leao? Or are you just jealous of the kid taking an amount he deserves? He deserves even more because he’s been the one crying this team for the second season running.

      Deal with it.

    2. Release clause is good thing. If club does not want to sell player, other teams have opportunity to trigger the clause. Of course by paying full price. And the player can be sold for less amount if club need that or want. Leao is obviously happy with club when he accepted more amount in clause. And if he becomes unhappy than can be sold for 80 120 mill in your example.

  3. In my naive hope to quell the negativity that keeps arriving ill repost this again

Rafael Leão will sign new deal valid until June 2028 as salary will be around €5m plus add-ons. 🔴 #ACMilan

AC Milan director Paolo Maldini: “We are very close. We agreed also on the final details. It was not easy but we’re set to get it signed”.

    ifabrizio romanos twitter yesterday

EXCLUSIVE — Rafa Leão’s laywer Ted Dimvula tells me: “There are many fake informations on Leão. We are working together to find a satisfactory solution on the new contract”. 🚨🔴⚫️

“Leão’s priority has not changed: he wants to stay at AC Milan”. and continue to grow and progress in this institution and this city that he loves so much.

we therefore firmly deny any desire on the part of rafael and/or his entourage to lower his release clause in order to facilitate a departure of the player next summer.

Rafael is fully focused on the important goals to come with his current club, and wishes, in this difficult period, to be able to work in calm and serenity in order to get back winning.

Doesnt seem like that there is a great reason to worry as i see it.

  4. Maybe an unpopular opinion but release clauses are a good thing. Clubs need to trust their players. A release clause allows players to be free to make their own decisions. Rafa is one of us and there is a price if people are interested. We trust him to make the right decision for him and for the club. This is great news.

Rafa, we love you too. Thank you everything and let’s be the best in the world

    1. i see also coming from fabrizo romano

Rafael Leão has now signed new long term deal with AC Milan until June 2028, confirmed and here we go! 🚨🔴⚫️ #ACMilan

All documents are finally completed, it will be official soon.

      ◉ €175m release clause.

◉ €5m net salary per season plus add-ons.

  5. And so the fvckin’ naysayers of the fvckin’ doom & gloom pack of fvckin’ morons can finally shut the FVCK up their mouths… LORD HAVE MERCY!!!

As much as I’m still furious with our atrocious display against Shinter, this news makes very happy indeed.

  6. So now we have extended all of our key players. Props to the management. And just like Maldini said last season, it’d take 2-3 decent new key signings to add to this basis to start to achieve more.

    1. Not all i think. Maignan still not extended, krunic too ( good for depth and can deploy at many position

      1. Krunic just renewed his contract September last year until 2025.

Maignan still have contract until 2026/27. There’s still plenty of time to negotiate for increase salary and longer contract.

      2. Maignan is not in the urgency. If we renew him (with salary increase of course), it’d be the same as we did with Tonali. More towards an appreciation gesture.

  7. As per fab Rom “here we go”. Phenomenal deal considering what we’ve heard past 18 months about his demands. Turns out it was boring of the sort. 5m (amazing for a player that calibre) 5 years…very good. A release clause of 175 which is fantastic. If someone wants to be and we don’t want to sell they will have to stump up. We are safe with him at least 3 years now. Great news.

  8. Great news. Now the naysayers can shut the F up.

Next season the management needs to buy one strong striker who can finish all those crossing and pass.
