Just six games remain of the season and while it hasn’t been a fun season for AC Milan, it must be said that the race for the European spots in Serie A is rather exciting.
Despite the big win against Udinese last time out, Milan are still in 9th place and they basically need to win their remaining games to climb the standings. Even so, a spot in the Europa League through the league looks very unlikely, with the Rossoneri more focused on the Coppa Italia as a result.
Today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below) highlighted the remaining games of Milan and their rivals in the European race. With Atalanta, Bologna and Roma still to face, a very strong season finale will be needed from the Rossoneri.

Atalanta or Fiorentina probably have the best schedules on paper, while Juventus have a pretty good one too. It should also be noted that the other teams will be keeping an eye on Milan’s Coppa Italia decider against Inter on Wednesday.
Indeed, should Milan finish outside the top 5 and win the Coppa Italia (thus securing Europa League), then the 6th-placed team in the league wouldn’t get a ticket to the competition. In the last four seasons, the winners of the Coppa have always finished inside the top 5, resulting in 6th place being Europa League qualification.
Let’s be honest, Milan have largely sucked donkey balls all season. Any European qualification would be extremely fortuitous.
