AC Milan came within three minutes of their first win against rivals Juventus in over three years on September 6th before having their hearts broken late on once again.
Just minutes after Biaconeri winger Francisco Conceição struck the post, the Rossoneri would strike against the run of play through teenage winger Alphadjo Cisse, who brilliantly cut inside to slot past Guglielmo Vicario right footed into bottom right hand corner.

Gatti rescues Juve a point
But in the end, it would count for little. Deep into injury time, just as it looked like Milan would cling on to a back-to-back 1-0 win, giant defender Federico Gatti would thunder home a bullet header off the crossbar and into the back of the net to secure Juve a deserved share of the spoils.
The 1-1 draw ensures that both teams remain unbeaten throughout the first three games of the new Serie A campaign, with both sides winning twice and now drawing against each other.
They are already, however, two points behind defending champions Inter, and although the betting sites continue to make the Nerazzurri the overwhelming favourites to successfully defend the Scudetto come next May.
The latest odds from 5Gringos online sportsbook currently price Christian Chivu’s men as an odds-on 4/5 favourite in Serie A this season, with Roma considered their biggest threat at 11/2, followed by Juventus and Milan at 7/1 and 8/1 respectively.
Had Ruben Amorim’s side clung on to that potentially famous 1-0 win, the odds list might have looked somewhat different. But considering the fact that Milan have managed just three victories against the Old Lady on enemy territory in the last 15 years, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised.

2022-23: Giroud downs the wounded Bianconeri
Between 2011/12 and 2019/20, Juventus ruled over Italian football with an iron fist, winning a record-breaking nine straight Scudettos along the way. But by 2022/23, that stranglehold had well and truly been loosened.
The Turin outfit had ended the Cristiano Ronaldo experiment, and they did so without the Champions League title that the Portuguese superstar was supposed to deliver. They finished down in fourth place the season before, and then a capital gains scandal rocked the club to its core, with 15 points deducted and the entirety of the Juve hierarchy dismantled from within.
Milan, by contrast, had risen from their ruins and were champions once again, and when they met Juve in the penultimate game of the season at the Allianz Stadium, they were determined to show where the balance of power truly lay. And ultimately, that’s exactly what they did. Veteran striker Olivier Giroud netted the only goal of the game, planting a trademark header past Wojciech Szczęsny.
While Milan wouldn’t go on to defend the Scudetto they won so impressively the year before, the 1-0 win on enemy territory secured Champions League qualification, while Juventus ultimately slumped to a seventh-placed finish in Serie A, the club’s worst effort in 12 years.
2020-21: Juve taken apart on their own patch
Two years prior, Juve were still very much at the peak of their powers. They headed into the campaign off the back of those nine straight Scudetti, and Ronaldo was still fit and firing at the top end of the pitch.
But the departure of Max Allegri and subsequent appointment of coaching novice Andrea Pirlo saw the club shockingly slide out of title contention, and rather than battling it out for the title, they were instead in real danger of missing out on Champions League qualification altogether.

With just four games of the campaign remaining, Milan arrived in Turin looking to pile on the misery, and they would ultimately do that in devastating fashion. Brhaim Diaz gave the Rossoneri a deserved early lead on the stroke of half-time, and not even a missed penalty from Franck Kessie could slow the visitors down.
Second-half goals from Ante Rebić and Fikayo Tomori sealed a resounding 3-0 Milan win, their biggest against Juventus in Turin since a 7-1 drubbing back in 1950.
The result was ultimately crucial to Milan securing a second-place finish, the club’s best in nine years. The following year, they would win the Scudetto for the first time in 11 years. Juve, meanwhile, slumped to fourth, surrendering their Serie A title. They haven’t come close to winning it since.
2010-11: Gattuso’s winner puts Milan on the brink
Back in 2010/11, the Italian footballing landscape looked much different. Juventus was struggling, while Milan had been ousted by cross-city rivals Inter as the dominant force in the city. However, that was all about to change.
After seven long years living in the shadow of both the Bianconeri and the Nerazzurri, Milan were on the brink of glory once more. However, if they were to finally win the Scudetto, they would have to secure a positive result in Turin.
And a goal from tenacious veteran midfielder Gennaro Gattuso ensured that they did exactly that. He netted five minutes before the half-time break, and the Rossoneri would emerge with a 1-0 win before going on to win the title ahead of rivals Inter by six points.
