Di Marzio: Renato, Berardi and De Ketelaere – Milan’s ideas in midfield and attack

AC Milan are looking to intervene in all outfield departments ahead of next season with particular attention on the midfield and attack.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Franck Kessié’s departure opens up a gap in the midfield department and as such Milan are looking for a reinforcement. Renato Sanches is a concrete target for this position, with the Lille man having been repeatedly linked over the past few months.

There must also be some interventions in attack to raise the quality of the options in the trident behind the centre-forward position, where Divock Origi will arrive on a free transfer once his Liverpool contract expires.

Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo and Charles De Ketelaere of Club Brugge are on the list, with the latter in particular deemed by the management as an attacking midfielder with the perfect identikit in age, potential and characteristics.

The price tag for the Belgian could pose some problems as it is not less than €20m, but Maldini and Massara have shown a willingness in the past to invest on talent they believe in.
