TMW: Milan searching for Kessie’s replacement – €30m man and free transfer top the list

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking around for options to reinforce the midfield knowing that Franck Kessie is currently destined to leave, according to a report.

Kessie’s contract expires at the end of the season and as it stands he will walk away for free just like Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu did. So who could replace him? TMW write that Renato Sanches of Lille is certainly a profile that the Rossoneri management are keeping an eye on even if the operation will be costly.

Despite the fact he has a contract expiring in June 2023, Lille’s request is around €30m and unless this drops it will be difficult to negotiate for Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. The Portuguese midfielder has different characteristics to Kessié, but he would nonetheless be a high profile addition that could help the quality of the department in the Ivorian’s absence.

Milan have excellent relations with Sanches’ agent Jorge Mendes and this could perhaps favour the negotiation, even if there is still a long way to go. Another player the management like is Boubacar Kamara who is not expected to renew with Marseille and as such could join on a free transfer next June.
