CM: Renato Sanches struggling at PSG – opportunity opens up for Milan again

By Oliver Fisher -

One of the targets that AC Milan tried for during the summer was Renato Sanches, and the summer could provide an opportunity to try again.

Calciomercato.com write how Sanches’ choice to join Paris Saint-Germain is not paying off at the moment, with the Portuguese midfielder having had an offer from the table from Milan who had identified him as the right profile to replace the outgoing Franck Kessie.

The Rossoneri waited for Sanches, to such an extent that they even lost the opportunity to work on the arrival of Enzo Fernandez. Sanches chose to leave Lille but to move to PSG who are paying him €5m net per season plus €2m in bonuses, a richer contract than the one proposed by Milan.

However, what PSG did not guarantee is the same centrality in the project, and so far Sanches has just four starts and 17 total appearances under head coach. It’s not the scenario he expected and after a few months the situation begins to take its toll.

After the match against Montpellier, the midfielder made his feelings known: “I’m back from an injury, I know it’s a bit complicated and a bit frustrating because it’s difficult to play well when you come back from an injury.

“But I feel good, I just have to play again a little. The coach chooses the team. I’m not happy, it’s normal that I want to play more and more. But I respect the coach’s decision and I’m here to give my best.”

This is where Milan could come back in again. Considering that the coach is pondering changing from the 4-2-3-1 that led him to win the 19th Scudetto to try a 4-3-3, Sanches could be an ideal partner for Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali.

PSG could evaluate a favourite transfer formula in order not to excessively devalue the €15m investment made last summer. In time it will become clearer if the idea could become concrete again.

  1. He can keep colleting the fat money at psg has he cleary snubed us for psg because of money so we now should be the one snubing him and he already have plenty of injured players all the time to sign another injury prone player so no thanks to this guy!And more because we were so focused on this guy we lost Enzo Fernandez its true that he could not have the same impact he had at Benfica but he would be a big addition to our midfield roster!

  2. No opportunity for Milan.
He has a long contract paying him a salary Milan can’t give him. The only opportunity is probably a loan with PSG paying at least 30% of his salary.
The issue isn’t how much money Psg would ask for Milan to buy Sanches, but would he be OK to lower his salary to less than 4 mil

    1. And I also disagree that Renato Sanches was coming in to replace Kessie. I think they wanted Renato to play the 10 at Milan or even on the right wing.
Renato is not a defensive midfielder, he has awful defensive awareness and positioning, plus he is often lazy.
Our defense would have been even worse with him in front of them. That is if he actually stayed healthy

  3. Ah an article about Renato Sanches, after a long time..🙂 Please, also write an article about Botman.. If we get the chance, to sign him this summer! 🙂

    1. Add Ziyech to that list too that they’ve been writing about for 2 years now and they know damn well Milan will not spend the money to bring in any of these guys. But I’m sure there is some 17 year old that Milan will sign instead who may or may not be good in a few years.

      1. 17 years old who is also not ready to play what ever that means? At least we will have a strong primavera season then 😀 Can some body please tell me what was the point of that new GK deal he is not ready what does that even mean why buy a player that is not ready, do you buy a car that can’t start when you need a car ?????!!!!!!!! Last years decisions make ZERO sense on one side we are frugal and on a budget but then we have assets that are not used and are just losing value I mean wtf ??

        1. “How Milan missed boat race?”
He was eager to join Milan but Milan opted to chase Renato Sanchess instead and let him go to Benfica.

  4. No thanks, guy is always a tease. Plays well for a little then nothing. Then we’ll again then injured. Nope. No thanks.

  5. All I hear is pure speculation. Is there any report that says that there actually is an interest from Milan to buy him? Or that PSG want to sell him? Or that he has requested to leave? If not, you’re just speculating based on very little information.

  6. nothing learnd from Baka deal??? Do you make money with 27age hig salary or 22 year old Enzo??? we need an upper age limit for transfers, like RBL. Or we never get back to the top, which currently seems more likely!! @Maldini: just call Napoli if you do not believe, Osimhen, Khvicha ??

    1. Oh the one who is so out of shape he failed his medical with the Germans? LOL. That’s exactly what we need. We’ve already got Florenzi & Zlatan coming back out of shape. No need for others too.
