CM: Renegotiation possible for Vranckx despite differing stance of Maldini and Pioli

By Oliver Fisher -

Despite the fact he has barely played this season Aster Vranckx’s future is not cut and dry, with AC Milan reportedly evaluating what to do.

Calciomercato.com recall that Vranckx started for Belgium’s U21 side last night against the Czech Republic as the captain, which is a far cry from his role at Milan where he has played less than 200 minutes across all competitions and has made only one start, that coming in the Coppa Italia against Torino.

Vranckx gave an interview with Belgian TV station Sporza during which he spoke about his lack of playing time and viewing the season as a learning process, one that has seen Tiémoué Bakayoko jump above him in the pecking order even though he has been set to leave for each of the last few windows.

Regarding the €12m option to buy inserted into the loan agreement with Wolfsburg, spending the last two months on the bench does not suggest that a permanent deal is likely, but Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are firmly convinced by his quality.

Pioli is not as convinced but the feeling is that Vranckx’s future is still not written, and towards the end of the campaign the directors could opt to renegotiate the deal at a lower figure.

  1. There was an interview here on sempremilan i believe with either the owner or president of wolfsburg where he said that there would be given NO discounts on the agreed upon deal so it would seem futile to waste our time negotianing unless we actually plan to swap rebic or someone else for him as they pretty much made their stance clear for all to see,

  2. Why sign him if the coach doesn’t approve of him? What kind of madness is this in Milan. Maldini and Massara need to follow the advise of the coach and stop signing players Pioli doesn’t want or use.

This is plain stupid regardless if Maldini and Massara believe in Vranckx talent. The word and opinion is more valuable in making a decision.

    1. This is how most clubs function today. Coaches don’t pick specific players the club will sign, not even in most PL clubs.

  3. Pls for now Milan should play rebic also in 9 when may be the sub Geroud except may they want to sub leao by rebic is also good as winger and as striker what I felt that happened to him was that he needed passes to score somebody like krunic or Diaz can assist him with passes to score

  4. So me as Milan supporter I see Milan qualifying for champions League and going to the final as well but what pioli must do is to believe in the players going back to the 4-2-3-1 will do us Good bt cdk is not allowed to feature in that formation until he improves very well.

  5. Milan should just used krunic or Diaz at back of striker with deep pressing ability to the opponent in order to score goals that pressing tactics helped Milan in winning mentality not allowing the opponent to contrythe ball putting their midfield and defence under attack so far krunic and Diaz has improved well.

  6. Few days ago there was an article here saying that Pioli gave positive report on him and he likes him. This are papers writing so I wouldn’t stress too much about it.
