Renna praises Milan Primavera after ‘excellent performance’ against Cagliari

Milan Primavera clinched an important win against Cagliari earlier today, coming back from 0-1 down, and Giovanni Renna only had praise for his side. 

Although the Scudetto play-offs remain unlikely, Milan knew that they needed to win today to have a chance with three games to go. Despite a tough start, conceding early on, they managed to clinch all three points in the end.

Francesco Domniteti first scored the equaliser in the first half, and the captain Filippo Scotti followed that up with the winner in the second half. It could have been even more for the Rossoneri, but ultimately, the win was all that mattered.

Renna full of praise

Speaking to MilanNews after the game, the Primavera’s head coach Giovanni Renna only had good things to say about his team. He labelled it a ‘truly excellent performance’, which definitely feels warranted to say after coming back from behind.

The team is clearly improving. How do you rate the match?

“It was a truly excellent performance from my boys. We fell behind with a little lapse in concentration, but that’s part of the game, and we did a great job reacting. We kept control of the game the entire match, so in the end, I congratulate the boys on their excellent performance.”

Today we saw a very offensive and dominant way of playing, even at the cost of leaving the centre-backs in one-on-one situations…

“We are working on these factors. Maybe in a different situation, where there’s been a slight lapse in concentration, you would drop your game. But no, we always play man-to-man, two-on-two or three-on-three: it’s not a problem.

“I’ve been saying it since the start of the season: the important thing is to help the players grow, even if they make mistakes, which is important. In these situations, congratulations go to Cullotta and Vladimirov,” he stated.
