Replay of Milan’s 21/22 opener as Krunic prepares to start against Udinese

As a result of Sandro Tonali’s injury, we will most likely see Rade Krunic from the first minute in AC Milan’s opener against Udinese next Saturday. It will be a replay of the opener in the 2021/22 season.

Tonali walked off the pitch during Milan’s friendly against Vicenza yesterday and although it might not be a serious injury, he will not be risked against Udinese. Therefore, Stefano Pioli will most likely play Krunic from start.

The Bosnian came on to replace Tonali yesterday and he did well in the midfield tandem, playing it simple but effective. Should he start against Udinese, then it will be very similar to the opening game of the 2021/22 season, when Milan faced Sampdoria.

Back then, both Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie were unavailable, which forced Pioli to field Tonali and Krunic in the tandem. The Rossoneri ended up winning the game 1-0 and Krunic started the season well before he got injured a few games in.
