Report: AC Milan battling Brentford in race to land prolific Arsenal starlet in bargain deal

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are set to battle Championship side Brentford for the signing of talented Arsenal youngster Folarin Balogun, according to a report.

The New York born striker has had a dramatic recent rise, having scored 28 goals in 28 games at youth level for Arsenal last season, including 25 in just 19 games for the U18 side.

This season he has been a key part of the U23 side, amassing seven goals and four assists in 12 games, but his campaign has been affected by injury.

According to the Daily Mail, Milan have been taking note of the England U18 international’s exploits, with former Gunners CEO Ivan Gazidis potentially having had a hand.

Brentford – who are battling for promotion to the Premier League for the first time – believe that they could beat competition for the Rossoneri though with a £5m (€6m) bid for a player who has 18 months left on his deal.

The report also claims that Milan are also looking in England for a full-back, with Nottingham Forest’s Matt Cash, Derby’s Jayden Bogle and Wigan’s Antonee Robinson all targets.
