According to Icelandic football site MBL, the AC Milan Women are on the verge of signing defender Guðný Árnadóttir.
Sources have told the site that Árnadóttir is in Italy undergoing a medical with AC Milan. If the move is completed, then it would give Milan’s strong backline further depth.
Milan’s defence is already strong, as they’ve only conceded four goals this season. Árnadóttir’s addition will make the team even stronger and give them a youthful edge as well.
The 20-year-old is quite young but she already has experience at the highest level. She has suited up for Iceland during their Women’s Euro 2021 qualifiers, as she played for the team during their matches against the Ukraine and Latvia. In particular, she played for 96 minutes against Ukraine, and helped lead the team to a 1-0 victory.
She has also played with her current team, Valur, in the Champions League. The fact that Milan is on the verge of signing a player with Champions League experience is a sign of intent from the team, as it shows that they are serious about qualifying for next season’s competition.
More details about Guðný’s transfer will be available within the upcoming days, and we’ll be sure to keep updating you about the transfer’s progress.
