Doctor’s Instagram post suggests AC Milan Women are close to signing Aston Villa star

By Steph Insixiengmay -

As was noted before, the AC Milan Women have been given the green light to strengthen their squad in a big way, and it also appears that their summer shopping spree has already begun.

One of their first, major signings, was world-class goalkeeper, Laura Giuliani. The team is also rumored to have signed French forward Lindsey Thomas along with Portuguese midfielder Fátima Pinto.

Now, a third bombshell has been dropped in the last 48 hours. Rumours has it that Milan have also signed Danish forward, Stine Larsen.

The source of this story comes from Luigi Marino, who is a doctor at the Casa di Cura La Madonnina in Milan. Marino has treated a few Milan players in the past, including Alexis Saelemaekers. He is also in a mutual following with Linda Tucceri Cimini and Francesca Vitale on Instagram.

The doctor seems to indicate that he and his staff have performed a medical exam on Stine and that she will soon be unveiled as the next signing for the team.

If this is true, then this would be a great signing for Milan. Stine is an intelligent and versatile forward, and one who can play a variety of positions on the pitch.

Her main position is that of a centre-forward but she can also play as a right or left-wing forward, a right wing-back, and even as a right-back too as per Wyscout.

Larsen’s former team is Aston Villa and she has only scored one goal during her time with them. And yet, she brings so much more to the table than scoring goals and has made up for this in other ways.

Although she is a centre-forward, Larsen is known for tracking back and doing defensive work as well. During Matchday Six of the FA WSL, Stine won the most challenges during that weekend, as she won 24 of them during a single match.

She also had six accurate dribbles that weekend and managed to do one better than that of World Cup winner Christen Press. Larsen also excels at holding the ball and dropping deep to link-up play.

Though the Danish international didn’t score that much for her club side, she did fare better for Denmark. During their qualifying campaign for the Women’s Euros in 2022, Larsen scored six goals and registered four assists for the Danes while playing for the national team.

By signing Larsen, Milan will not only up-and-coming, burgeoning talent, but they’ll also have a speedy forward who can defend. They’ll also be signing a player with major grinta. The fact that she’s so tough and determined means that she can readily adapt to the Italian game, given the emphasis on defending in the country.

Larsen will also make the team even more competitive and might just be the perfect complement to captain Valentina Giacinti. Stine’s ability to do defensive work and create assists will no doubt, be a boon to the striker in her bid to regain the capocannoniere title. Larsen will also be an overall boost to the team. Milan needs another, mobile, and technically gifted forward to bolster the potency of their attack. And with Larsen, they may have just found what they were looking for.

It must be reemphasised that this is still speculation. There is no confirmation of this from either Milan themselves, or her agency. More will be posted about this within the upcoming days as more news about it is made readily available. So for now, stay tuned.

UPDATE: Luca Maninetti writes on Twitter that Milan Femminile next season will be even more competitive as the club’s goal is to get closer and closer to the top European clubs. In the meantime, they are interested in Stine Larsen with contacts in progress.
