Report: Atalanta recover three players for Milan clash but three will miss out

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are currently preparing for their clash against Atalanta this weekend, which is the penultimate game of the season. The Scudetto is on the line and the away side will be without a few players.

According to TuttoAtalanta, Gian Piero Gasperini will have the likes of Duvan Zapata, Giorgio Scalvini and Jose Palomino back at his disposal for the Milan clash. On the other hand, Rafael Toloi, German Pezzella and Josip Ilicic will miss out.

Having Zapata back is obviously a huge boost for the Atalanta manager, who’s under pressure to at least secure European football for the Bergamo side. Should he fail to do so, then he could be sacked this summer.

This makes the clash a very important one for both sides and it will be in front of a packed San Siro. Milan, with a win, would be one step closer to the Scudetto and could even secure it depending on Inter’s game afterwards.

  1. Even if he loses to us and even loses his final match as well and Atalanta miss out on Europe, how in the world could ownership sack Gasperini? He has been a miracle worker with that team the past few years finishing top 3 three years in a row, advancing far in Europa League this year and Champions League prior (leading PSG in quarterfinals 1-0 in the 90th minute before 2 very late goals involving Neymar made them miss out on CL semifinals). With their tiny budget, he achieved amazing success. That club would be stupid if they get rid of him.

    1. Agree DB, besides of wining a coppa italia in the early 60ies or something atalanta hasnt won anything except of some serie b championships and under gasperinis guidance they have fought domestically and has gone beyond expectations abroad while playing great football and making the club richer.
The president of atalanta would be a moron to sack gasperini for not qualifying for europe and to be honest i wouldnt be extremely surprised to see the club gradually slumping back to it former levels the day he leaves.

  2. I remember Atalanta is like inter’s second grade club due to identical dress :). It’s among the best attacking club last season with plenty of goals made.
