Report: Bayern Munich considering buy-back signing of Milan target Zirkzee

By Isak Möller -

Joshua Zirkzee has been heavily linked with AC Milan in the last few months and the interest has been confirmed several times. However, according to a report, Bayern Munich could snatch the Dutchman’s services thanks to a beneficial clause.

The 2023-24 campaign was certainly a breakthrough season for Zirkzee, bagging 12 goals and 7 assists while above all showcasing his football IQ. Milan have been following him for a long time, as we reported already back in November, and the interest is still concrete.

According to the German outlet fussball.news, however, Bayern Munich could enter the race and snatch Zirkzee’s services. They sold him to Bologna in 2022 for a fee of around €9m and also included a buy-back clause of €20-25m, which is half the price of the release clause.

The new manager Vincent Kompany likes Zirkzee and has also played with two strikers in the past, meaning the 23-year-old wouldn’t just be a backup to Harry Kane. In short, the German side have a huge advantage in the race and it remains to be seen if they are serious.

In addition to Zirkzee, Milan are also evaluating the likes of Benjamin Sesko and the Feyenoord sensation Santiago Gimenez, but a decision will soon have to be made.

  1. We should just go all out on Sesko. He is worth 65 million and would unlock this whole team! Then we get Fofana for 20 mil, Tiago Santos for 12 mil and Kiwior on loan. We won’t even have to sell anyone

      1. What if we went for Gabriel since arsenal are going for Sesko. He may put his injuries aside and come good for us. €25m-€30m should get him.

    1. Sesko very close to Arsenal. Think that ship has sailed. Zirkzee was the hope as his clause made him somewhat affordable.

I’d prefer either of those to David but it might mean we sign the Canadian as Fonseca has been his coach at Lille.

    1. Milan would be dumb to go with that deal.
Why get a player, when he finally turns out to be good then we are sure he won’t remain with us.

By the way Zirkzee isn’t better than Jonathan David but Milan will always be Milan with their slow strategy, they will end up getting none.

      1. What people dont understand is zirkzee isnt a normal striker…he scored 11 serie a goals which isnt horrible but not very good either. But he will score more goals in the future as he just turned 23.His playmaking and passing stats are crazy for a striker and also his heat map.He tends to drop down often to give the wingers space and I think leao would explode with him.Players dcore more when they play with zirkzee. He reminds me of young zlatan fantastic dribbling passing but can get better at scoring. But as i said he is 23 and will only get better.Leao,zirkzee,pulisic/chukwueze would be a deadly trident and zirkzee is a striker who also are envolved much in the build up and can create for other to not just score for himself.David are also good with the ball and fonseca like strikers who are good with the ball. Also zirkzee is 2 years younger than david so even if david gurantee more goals you shouldnt just look at that….I mean if Arsenal, milan, man utd, juventus,Inter and napoli all like him there is obviously big talent i the guy

  2. If I were BM I would get him and deploy as a winger or SS to support Kane. Zirkzee’s linkup play could further boost Kane’s huge goal numbers.

  3. If Conte with napoli won’t go for it, I wouldn’t leave Lukaku out of the picture either. Chelsea are desperate to offload him and we’re a good costumer of theirs.

  4. No offense but you are not a fan so why give your opinion or is the inter website getting boring or what??🙄

    1. He is not Inter fan. He watches all of our games, knows what is happening in Milan more than most of Milan fans here, also he watches our Primavera team too lol. There is absolutely no chance that such Inter ‘fan’ exists who is more obsessed with Milan than Inter.

He just doesn’t want anyone to confront him, therefore, he stays as a ‘neutral’ fan with that username.
I would say quite smart approach.

      1. In some cases I watch the games, in most cases I see the highlights only, in some cases vs weakest teams I do not watch anything at all. I have never watched a single minute of Milan’s Primavera (or Inter’s Primavera for that matter). Anyways, you are free to imagine whatever you want. Your right to do that.
