Report: Bayern Munich considering buy-back signing of Milan target Zirkzee

Joshua Zirkzee has been heavily linked with AC Milan in the last few months and the interest has been confirmed several times. However, according to a report, Bayern Munich could snatch the Dutchman’s services thanks to a beneficial clause.

The 2023-24 campaign was certainly a breakthrough season for Zirkzee, bagging 12 goals and 7 assists while above all showcasing his football IQ. Milan have been following him for a long time, as we reported already back in November, and the interest is still concrete.

According to the German outlet fussball.news, however, Bayern Munich could enter the race and snatch Zirkzee’s services. They sold him to Bologna in 2022 for a fee of around €9m and also included a buy-back clause of €20-25m, which is half the price of the release clause.

The new manager Vincent Kompany likes Zirkzee and has also played with two strikers in the past, meaning the 23-year-old wouldn’t just be a backup to Harry Kane. In short, the German side have a huge advantage in the race and it remains to be seen if they are serious.

In addition to Zirkzee, Milan are also evaluating the likes of Benjamin Sesko and the Feyenoord sensation Santiago Gimenez, but a decision will soon have to be made.
